Daredevil actor Vincent D'Onofrio wants to return as Kingpin for Spider-Man: Homecoming 3. Marvel Studios and Sony's upcoming solo film for Tom Holland's Spider-Man was already highly anticipated after Spider-Man: Far From Home's ending. Interest in how Peter Parker's story will evolve has only continued to grow recently, as the film appears to include elements of the multiverse.

Details on the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man 3 have recently started to come to light with a few significant additions to the cast. Jamie Foxx is returning as Electro after he played the villain in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Foxx teased that this could be a new version of the character, as he confirmed Electro wouldn't be blue this time. While this could be done similar to J.K. Simmons' return as J. Jonah Jameson, it has now been revealed that Benedict Cumberbatch is reprising his role as Doctor Strange for Spider-Man 3 too. This might point towards a multiverse story, leaving fans to wonder what other familiar faces could appear.

The return of Foxx as Electro and the addition of Doctor Strange leaves Spider-Man 3 with several possibilities to include past versions of Marvel characters. Most of the attention has gone towards the prospect of Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield returning as Spider-Man, but Vincent D'Onofrio hopes it could allow Kingpin to return as well. After playing Wilson Fisk in three seasons of Daredevil, D'Onofrio expressed his interest in joining Spider-Man 3's cast on Twitter.

D'Onofrio has frequently shown interest in making an appearance in an MCU movie, and most fans support this idea. When these conversations were happening before, though, the biggest question was how Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios would grapple with the Marvel Netflix shows' continuity. But, that doesn't need to be a hold-up anymore. The Spider-Man franchise has shown that Marvel is at least open to using the same actors to play slightly different versions of the same characters. If Simmons and Foxx can return as JJJ and Electro, then it is possible that D'Onofrio or other Defenders cast members could do the same.

Right now, it isn't evident what role Kingpin could play in a story potentially tied to the multiverse, but he does have strong ties to Spider-Man. Audiences just saw a larger-than-life version of Fisk appear in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and be the main villain of it. Kingpin could be brought into the MCU in several ways, and it would be a dream come true for many to see Kingpin and Spider-Man share the big screen in live-action. Hopefully, if it does happen, it will be with D'Onofrio's Kingpin and Holland's Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Homecoming 3.
