Some of the best concepts of Jamie Foxx’s Electro costume for the MCU’s Spider-Man 3 are already surfacing. Electro, real name Max Dillon, was created by Steve Ditko and Stan “the Man” Lee and first appeared in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man back in 1964. He’s since gone on to become one of Spidey’s greatest foes and a prominent member of his rogues' gallery. Electro’s cinematic debut would come in 2014 with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, featuring Andrew Garfield as the wall-crawler and Jamie Foxx taking on the mantle as his electric foe.

When it was announced that Jamie Foxx would once again be returning as Electro in the MCU’s 3rd Spider-Man film it came as a huge surprise to many. Foxx posted on his Instagram story to share his excitement over the opportunity for a rematch with the web-slinger. Even going so far as to say he won't "be blue in this one" before quickly deleting the post. This, of course, led to much speculation on how this crazy crossover would be possible. Plus, Foxx's comments about not resembling his previous incarnation sent talented fans to their drawing boards to imagine how this new Electro could look.

Loads of fan-made concept art is already circulating the web. Some of the best that you can find on Instagram come courtesy of artists and users awedope.arts, jackson_caspersz, jaopicksart, spdrmnkyxxiii, rinsh_art, bosslogic, christ_ave41, and ellejart. Check out the creativity and variety of their works below.

Awedope.art, jaopicksart, spdrmnkyxxiii, and ellejart’s concepts borrow elements from Electro’s original costume in the comics, giving him an updated, yet nostalgic feel. Jackson_Caspersz’s take integrates a very prominent tech component to Electro’s suit, which falls in line with much of the MCU’s translation of villains thus far in the Spiderverse. And rinsh_art’s version is a take on a later design of Electro found in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man in 2009, featuring an Electro who is now literally wearing the scars of age, with electrical powers, on his face.

Foxx’s return won’t be the first merging of worlds when integrating aspects of previous Sony Spider-Man pictures and their current joint productions with Marvel and the MCU. Spider-Man: Far From Home saw the role reprisal of beloved fan-favorite J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson from the original Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy. Foxx, in turn, now marks a returning element from The Amazing Spider-Man films. But this may be a sign of things to come. Tom Holland’s Spidey has faced Shocker, Vulture, Mysterio, and will now be coming up against Electro. That’s already four members of The Sinister Six, Spider-Man’s most notorious team of villains. The end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 featured the appearance of Rhino, another Sinister Six member. If Foxx as Electro in MCU’s Spider-Man 3 heralds the eventual showdown against the iconic collective, that will make for a shocking, but much welcome development.
