Fan-favorite Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse character Spider-Ham (John Mulaney) returns in a clip from a new short film on the Blu-Ray release. Spider-Man has headlined six live-action theatrical films to date - the Sam Raimi trilogy, The Amazing Spider-Man duology, and the MCU's Spider-Man: Homecoming - and will soon add a seventh with Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: Far From Home. Most of those movies have been well-received, but it's a testament to just how great an animated effort Into the Spider-Verse ended up being that many fans would argue it's the best Spider-Man film to date.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse marked a fairly rare case of a superhero film earning almost universal acclaim from both fans and critics, hauling in over $350 million worldwide before things were all said and done. Into the Spider-Verse's primary claim to fame was that it served as the big screen debut of a leading Spider-Man other than Peter Parker, that being Miles Morales (Shameik Moore). Additionally though, Spider-Verse was also the debut movie for several other supporting variations of Marvel's wall-crawler.

Perhaps the most popular of those was Spider-Ham, voiced by comedian and actor Mulaney. Spider-Ham is exactly what he sounds like, a cross between a spider and a pig, made all the more interesting by the fact that he hails from a dimension with cartoon physics. As some have pointed out, this makes Spider-Ham nearly unbeatable, as he can grab a weapon out of thin air at any time, and can recover from just about any hit.  He's also a hilarious deadpan snarker. Fans can get a second taste of Spider-Ham on the Into the Spider-Verse Blu-Ray release, which contains the extra short film "Caught in a Ham." Sony has released a clip from the short, which can be seen below.

Judging by the above clip, Spider-Ham's questionable love of hot dogs clearly remains intact, as does his ability to escape from basically any situation. It's unclear exactly how long the "Caught in a Ham" short will be, but it sure looks to be quite amusing. Many fans have wondered if Spider-Ham would someday get his own movie showcase, but truth be told, this kind of comedic supporting character is probably best served by the short film venue. Spider-Ham is very charming, but 2 hours of just him would probably be a bit much.

With a sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse already in the works, fans will likely get to spend more time with Spider-Ham on the big screen in that film. Spider-Verse is also set to receive an all-female spinoff, but Spider-Ham probably won't feature in that project, for obvious reasons. For now, those who pick up the Spider-Verse Blu-Ray will be able to get "Caught in a Ham" again and again.
