It seems that Spawn has finally gotten his revenge against The Violator – at least in one of his Mortal Kombat 11 intros. Spawn creator Todd McFarlane recently shared a promotional video of his undead anti-hero displaying the severed head of one of his most hated enemies prior to a round of Mortal Kombat, which he’s set to participate in as an upcoming MK11 DLC character later this month.

Fans of the Spawn franchise will recognize this enemy as The Violator, a powerful demon tasked with ensuring that the resurrected Al Simmons (the titular Spawn) upholds his deal with the devil to lead Hell’s army on Earth in exchange for being allowed to live again. Under the guise of a crude, overweight clown named… well, Clown, Violator frequently taunts Spawn by bringing up his tragic past, leading to several clashes with the undead warrior. Violator often comes out on top of these battles due to being one of the strongest demons in Hell, which only fuels Spawn’s anger as he struggles to balance his newfound demonic abilities with his desire to regain the life and family he lost.

Famed comic book writer and artist Todd McFarlane shared a video of his most famous creation on his Twitter page earlier this week, which features Spawn carrying the dismembered head of The Violator in his Clown form as he approaches Sonya Blade. Sonya accuses Spawn of stealing weapons from her unit’s armory as the demonic warrior plants Clown’s head on the tip of a spear, then dares the elite solider to “take back” said weaponry… if she can. Interested fans can check out the full video below:

Having created the character as a part of Image Comics back in the late 90's, McFarlane has frequently shown his support for Spawn’s inclusion as a DLC guest fighter in Mortal Kombat 11. Spawn was announced last May as part of the first Kombat Pack alongside such characters as Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel, the T-800 Terminator, and The Joker of DC Comics fame – the latter of which draws Spawn’s ire due to his clear similarity to Clown. As part of the run-up to the DLC’s release later this month, an action figure of Spawn’s likeness in the game has been produced by McFarlane’s high-end toy company, McFarlane Toys, and a gameplay trailer showing Spawn’s fighting moves and Fatalities was recently revealed during the Final Kombat 2020 Livestream.

Considering all the pain Violator has put him through over the years, it should be no surprise Spawn would choose to display the demon in such a gory fashion. Furthermore, propping Clown’s head on a lance serves as a brutal warning to any Kombatant who would dare cross him when he becomes available to download for Mortal Kombat 11 later this month. After all, if he can dispatch one of Hell’s most feared demons so easily, then what chance does Sonya Blade have?
