DC Comics’ Batman and Image Comics’ Spawn are set to collide in an upcoming crossover event this December, with this epic new cosplay mashing these iconic characters together in a way that not only wows on a creative level but terrifies with a design that perfectly combines the look and feel of two heroes that don’t cross each other’s paths very often.

Recently shared on Instagram by username @batsturd, this cosplay account excels in giving fans comic-accurate costume designs that don’t skimp on the details that make these looks feel right at home in the real world too. Mostly cosplaying as Wolverine and Batman, @batsturd also remixes these looks when inspired to do so, and in the case of this particular cosplay, comes up with outside-of-the-box designs that unite two popular characters not originally hailing from the same comic book universe.

Two well-known fictional heroes who have their own unique style and design that fans can never seem to get enough of, Batman is the non-powered but highly skilled guardian of Gotham City, while Spawn is the Necroplasm-equipped Hellspawn protector of New York City. Both having lost people close to them early on — two separate yet comparable events that effectively placed them on the paths they still walk to this day — Batman and Spawn also share similar tastes in dark and brooding superhero attire as their costume designs have continued to be an important piece of their popularity over the decades; something that @batsturd hones in on perfectly with this combined cosplay form.

Batman and Spawn Unite in Jaw-Dropping Cosplay

Showing off what two of the best characters in comics might look like if smashed together, @batsturd’s costume is one that’s well-made and impeccably designed. Cranking up Batman and Spawn’s scare factor tenfold, @batsturd goes all in on the dark aspects of these characters by giving Batspawn a monster-like bat-cowl that covers his entire face a la Spawn’s facemask, and a more form-fitting costume that almost looks as if he isn’t wearing a suit at all, but is instead part of it. Next, @batsturd gives this cosplay Spawn’s chains, Batman’s belt buckle, and a cape that pays homage to both Spawn and Batman’s similarly giant, flowy ones, all of which work incredibly well within the confines of both characters’ fashion choices. Finishing things off with a logo that keeps Batman’s signature symbol but also elongates its tips in a way that likens itself to Spawn’s more stretched-out chest design, @batsturd completes a look that when things are all said and done, could even double as a live-action take on a hybrid Batman/Spawn character!

With the latest Batman/Spawn crossover from Spawn creator Todd McFarlane and Batman alum Greg Capullo only a few short weeks away, this cosplay couldn’t have come at a better time for fans of these iconic comic heroes. Batman and Spawn look badass on their own, but when combined into one, they’re the stuff nightmares are made of.
