'Spartacus: Vengeance' Episode 1 Available Early Online

Liam McIntyre in Spartacus: Vengeance Starz

Apparently, releasing a glimpse at the opening scene of Spartacus: Vengeance simply was not enough to satiate fans anxiously awaiting the show's premiere. Now, for those of you who simply cannot wait until Friday to see the long-awaited return of Spartacus, Starz has made available the season 2 premiere in its entirety.

It's been nearly two years since season 1 ended with the fall of the House of Batiatus at the hands of Spartacus and his band of gladiators in Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Now, Vengeance picks up shortly thereafter, with Spartacus and the other freed slaves hiding out beneath the streets of Capua, engaging in a sort of guerilla warfare against the tyranny of Rome.

The episode, entitled 'Fugitivus' sees Spartacus attempting to balance his need for vengeance with the burgeoning responsibility toward those who have followed the gladiator in search of freedom. Joining Spartacus is his one time adversary and now collaborator, Crixus (Manu Bennett), who, like the would-be leader, is more concerned with personal gratification, than the long-term plight of those enslaved by the Romans.

Meanwhile, Claudius Glaber (Craig Parker) – the man Spartacus holds responsible for taking away everything, including his wife Sura – has been tasked with quelling the senate's fears of a full on slave rebellion by any means necessary. Joining Glaber, as he takes up residence in the bloodied halls of Batiatus' former home are his duplicitous wife Ilithyia (Viva Bianca) and an unexpected survivor of the massacre that took place just weeks prior.

Perhaps most importantly, the sneak peek gives everyone more than a fleeting glimpse at the new Spartacus, Liam McIntyre. After viewing the episode, fans can see for themselves the take McIntyre has on the titular character, as well as a sense of the direction the series will take now that Spartacus' story is ready to move forward.

Before viewing the premiere, please be aware that the episode appears online in its entirety – meaning all the adult content (sex, language and brutal violence) remains intact. Needless to say, Spartacus is NSFW, so view at your own risk.
