A new Disney-branded board game is on the way and this time it's Space Mountain-themed. Disney has recently started testing the waters with board games that are based on various attractions and movies. From a Haunted Mansion game to a Big Thunder Mountain game, the company's entry into the tabletop world is no surprise to longtime Disney fans. Disney has recently collaborated to make a Goofy Movie meets Funko Disney board game and has also partnered with other brands in the past to create Disney versions of classic games.

Though Disney joining the ranks of tabletop gaming is nothing new, the recent resurgence of board games has made these games more popular than before. Among the more popular efforts from Disney are the Villainous games, which have existed since 2018. Disney even released board games for rides back in the 70s for attractions like the Matterhorn and even one for Walt Disney World itself. At the recent D23 Expo, a major Disney event with news and announcements, the company announced that it was creating a Disney trading card game that could potentially rival Magic The Gathering, called Disney Lorcana.

The Space Mountain game will be the newest addition to the ever-growing list of attraction-based games produced by Disney (via GamesRadar). The game is called Space Mountain: All Systems Go and is a versus game where two to four players must compete in a race against each other to have the player's ship visit all the ports, known as Starports. From the image, it appears that the dice tower is shaped like the launch bay and the dice will roll through it much like the ride vehicles do. The player tokens are also shaped like the Disneyland ride vehicles, which have more of a rocket ship appearance to them. Space Mountain: All Systems Go is created and published by Ravensburger, a prolific board game developer known for its adaptation of other Disney attractions and of course the popular Disney Villainous Villainous board games, which have featured Star Wars themes before.

The box art for Space Mountain: All Systems Go reveals more information about the gameplay. Like the ride, wormholes and asteroids will appear while the players are attempting to maintain their course, and they must maneuver to miss these obstacles. They will also apparently have to keep track of fuel levels while they are attempting to reach their destination. The dice that are rolled through the launch bay will tell players which direction they must go and how they can move forward.

No date has been announced for when fans can get their hands on Space Mountain: All Systems Go, but that should be revealed in due course. There is also no official pre-order date, but it is possible the board game will be available to purchase online and in stores near the holidays. Diehard Disney fans can enjoy other games while they wait, like the charming Stardew Valley-like life sim, Disney's Dreamlight Valley, or one of the various Disney attraction-based board games.
