In Space Jam: A New Legacy, the Tune Squad faces a very different type of threat than they did in the original film. While they first squared off against a team of aliens powered by the talent of NBA stars, they now must play digital avatars of basketball players who have been upgraded with superhuman abilities.

The Monstars and Goon Squad are drastically different teams that are comprised of contrasting players. Unlike the Monstars, who relied on their sheer muscle and size to overpower the Tune Squad, the Goon Squad is filled with players who have unique powers and abilities.

Blanko

Blanko enters the gym in Space Jam

In his nerdluck form, Blanko is shown to be fairly ditsy and unintelligent, often not fully understanding the plan. One of the most likable characters in Space Jam, Blanko's goofiness and lack of wits are frequently used as the comic relief in the group, such as when he asks if they are there yet during the group's flight to earth.

When he steals NBA player Shawn Bradley's ability, he becomes the tallest Monstar. Despite his physically imposing new form, he is still shown to be just as unintelligent and struggles to adjust to his new body, bumping his head into doorways.

The Brow

In many ways, the Brow is the Goon Squad's equivalent of Blanko, the Center on the team who is big and tall but not very smart. One of the best quotes in Space Jam comes as LeBron James and the Tune Squad tease the Brow about his signature unibrow.

Based on Lakers big man Anthony Davis, this upgraded avatar also has the ability to fly. While Anthony Davis is a great basketball player, the Brow does not have the biggest impact on the game, and his flying ability is not nearly as impressive as his teammates' abilities.

Nawt

Nawt is the small, but fast-talking member of the Monstars. He is always quick to dish out some trash talk, despite not always being smart enough to deliver the lines effectively such as when he struggles to spell Monstars while intimidating Michael Jordan.

When he steals the abilities of Muggsy Bogues, he gains muscles and incredible speed but retains the source's diminutive stature. His speed makes him a force to be reckoned with, though his overconfidence in his abilities leads to several important defensive breakdowns due to missed steals.

White Mamba

As an upgraded avatar of Diana Taurasi, the White Mamba has all the power of the WNBA superstar and a large snake. She is both agile and cunning, slithering her way up and down the court.

Her long form gives her great reach and she can move her tail independently from the rest of her body. This gives her the ability to constrict her foes with her tail while continuing to play basketball with her upper half. She also has lightning-fast reflexes, striking quickly.

Bupkus

Bupkus plays defense in Space Jam

As a nerdluck, Bupkus is a pushover, literally licking Mr. Swackhammer's shoes in subservience. But after acquiring Larry Johnson's talent, Bupkus becomes a mean and intimidating Monstar who enjoys taunting and hurting others.

He is a big and strong creature who is capable of imposing his will on just about anyone. He demonstrates his violent abilities body slamming Elmer Fudd, punching Foghorn Leghorn, and using Foghorn Leghorn as a club to hit Tweety Bird like a golf ball.

Bang

While not the tallest, Bang is the biggest and most muscular of the Monstars. He possesses NBA Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing's talent and is extremely strong and powerful. He enjoys using his strength to insult and injure the Tune Squad such as when he crushes Porky Pig.

He is strong enough to cause an earthquake just by slamming the ball into the ground. He also has the ability to breathe fire like a dragon, demonstrating a unique power that the other Monstars do not have.

Pound

Pound is the large, strong leader of the Monstars. Even as a nerdluck, he is clearly the one in charge, driving their spaceship while the others were just passengers. His bossy attitude and take-charge spirit are only amplified once he steals Charles Barkley's talent and transforms. Other than Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley is the most famous NBA player that stars in the movie, and his talent makes Pound a clear standout on the Monstars.

He is as powerful and strong as his teammates, and just as mean. Leaping from on top of the backboard, he tries to body slam Lola but ends up crushing Bugs, demonstrating his immense strength. Additionally, the added dimension of leadership easily makes him the most powerful Monster with the others submitting to his authority.

Wet-Fire

Playing off of Klay Thompson's status as half of the Golden State Warriors' "Splash Brothers," Wet-Fire is an upgraded avatar with a unique skill set. He is able to fluctuate between being a water-based and fire-based form.

This special combination of powers makes Wet-Fire a one-of-a-kind threat. He can either take on an amorphous and fluid state of being or a fireball form that resembles that of the Human Torch. Wet-Fire essentially has the power of two different characters and uses them in rapid succession.

Arachnneka

Arachnneka is a spider-like upgraded avatar that possesses the abilities of former WNBA MVP Nneka Ogwumike. She is a large creature that has six arms and two legs, giving her the ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time.

Arachnneka uses her many long arms to fend off her opponents while simultaneously continuing to play basketball. Additionally, she also has the ability to spin sticky webs, allowing her to either shoot her webs at foes or trap them in her large webs.

Chronos

Space Jam 2 Chronos Lillard

Modeled after Portland Trailblazers superstar Damian Lillard, and playing off of his nickname "Dame Time," Chronos is the Goon Squad's secret weapon off of the bench who has the ability to manipulate time and the speed at which others around him move. His ruthlessness and incredible power make him one of the best characters in Space Jam: A New Legacy.

The movie relegates Chronos to the bench because his immense power would make a Tune Squad victory all but impossible in the same way that the X-Men movies have to sideline Quicksilver for the sake of tension. His ability to manipulate time easily makes him the most powerful villain in either Space Jam movie.
