SoulCalibur VI's next guest fighter is NieR: Automata's 2B. SoulCalibur VI is the latest iteration of one of the industry's most popular fighting games, and is widely considered to be a return to form for a series that has struggled to remain relevant while its competitors continue to churn out new sequels and gameplay innovations.

SoulCalibur VI has also been praised for a well-designed roster featuring another huge guest appearance in the form of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's Geralt of Rivia, a monster-slaying swordsman right at home in the game's universe. For those that aren't aware, 2B is the android heroine of NieR: Automata, a sequel to a cult classic that became one of the best games released in 2017. And now she will be coming to SoulCalibur VI sometime in the near future.

SoulCalibur VI's official Twitter announced plans to bring NieR: Automata's 2B to SoulCalibur VI and even released a new gameplay trailer that introduced the upcoming fighter to fans, showcasing some early gameplay footage and a storyline introduction. Check it out:

NieR: Automata's 2B will be joining the SoulCalibur VI roster at an unspecified date in the near future, and has been described as an "all-rounder" character that will fight with short sword, long sword, and spear weapons. 2B will also be able to use Pod 042, her in-game robot companion, to perform long distance attacks. Those qualities combined will likely make 2B a strong contender in a fighting community that tends to enjoy having all of its bases covered in competitive play.

2B will also bring with her a brand new stage based around the city ruins of NieR: Automata, a memorable environment in-game that looks to be faithfully recreated in SoulCalibur VI, capturing the feel and beauty that made it such a famous section of NieR. Morever, 2B also comes with music based on the award-winning soundtrack of NieR: Automata, a custom costume, and some extra customizable parts based on the game. The latter additions appear to include series mascot and beloved fan favorite Emil, so expect some creative interpretations of the character to show up in online matchmaking in the near future.

2B is being added as the second guest character to fall under the blanket of SoulCalibur VI's season pass, a DLC commitment that looks more appealing now that the quality of its additions have proven to be quite high. 2B looks like the kind of character that could be both a fan favorite and a serious contender in competitive play, but there's only one way to find out - once she's released into the wilds of SoulCalibur VI's meta, we'll find out in short order.
