The new trailer for Pixar's Soul teases the animated movie ahead of its December 2020 release on Disney+. At the start of the year, Soul was expected to be a huge summer release for Disney and Pixar that could go on to get awards recognition. However, the coronavirus pandemic forced the studios to delay Pete Docter's (UpInside Out) latest directorial effort. The plan was for Soul to still come out in theaters at the end of 2020, but Disney recently announced that Soul will debut on Disney+ on Christmas instead.

Soul's new release format is another huge blow to the theater industry, but it does guarantee that Pixar's highly-anticipated movie will arrive by the end of the year. Even though it won't be seen on the big screen in most areas around the world, it sounds like the movie will be worth the wait. Early reviews for Soul are extremely positive and once again praise Pixar's creativity when it comes to their original stories. There are still a few months to go before the movie is released, but fans can now catch a glimpse of what is in store.

Following the great reviews and release date change, Disney and Pixar released the second official trailer for Soul today. It opens and closes with a reminder that the film will now be released on Disney+. The trailer itself shows much more of Soul's story, which follows musician Joe (Jamie Foxx) after he seemingly dies on Earth. When his soul escapes before going into the light, Joe enters the Great Before - where new souls gain the personalities and interests before going to Earth to become people.

This new look at Soul appears to be a great representation of what viewers will get if they check it out on Disney+. The trailer once again highlights the stunning animation that Pixar is using. There is also the usual balance of humor and emotion that audiences have come to expect from the animation powerhouse. Judging by the Soul trailer and the reactions to the film itself, Pixar's latest film should live up to expectations.

The overwhelmingly positive buzz for Soul isn't just great news for the quality of the movie, but it should also drive more interest in the film and towards Disney+. Soul is expected to be the final big piece of original content to drop on Disney+ in 2020. With The Mandalorian arriving at the end of October and WandaVision debuting sometime before the end of the year, Disney+ will finally start delivering what we hope is quality original material on a consistent basis. And with Soul not receiving the Premier Access treatment like Mulan, it could be a big movie for families to enjoy over the holidays.
