Disney's big-budget fantasy adventure, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, hits theaters in about two weeks. In the meantime, you can check out three new clips from the movie and a featurette that offers a glimpse at the flick's effects-heavy action and stunt work.
In The Sorcerer's Apprentice, 1,000-year old magician Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) at long last finds a worthy student in Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel) - a college physics nerd living in modern-day New York. However, it turns out that the two actually met several years before, when Dave was just a young boy - as you can see in the first clip below.
Quick note - does Cage seem a bit bored to anyone else? It seems as though he's aiming for a sort of calm, stoic air with Balthazar, but it feels odd. Having seen Cage run around, punching women while dressed in a bear suit (in The Wicker Man) and channeling his inner homicidal Adam West (in Kick-Ass), I guess I just keep expecting him to go nuts at any moment. Moving on...

Because The Sorcerer's Apprentice was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, it should come as little shock that the movie will feature lots of explosive visual FX, fight scenes, and car chases. The latest featurette deals with just that, as do the two other movie clips we have for you to check out.
This new, fun-for-the-family fantasy adventure continues to look more and more like a bigger-budgeted variation on the last collaboration between Cage, Bruckheimer and director Jon Turteltaub - National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Amusingly enough, I imagine the plot of Sorcerer's Apprentice will at least feel less preposterous than that flick - even with the metallic eagle flying around and Cage pretending like that gray mop on his head is in fact his real hair. ;-)
You can watch the featurette and the two action-driven scenes below:
So what do you think? Does The Sorcerer's Apprentice look like a fun ride? Will you be taking the whole family to see this one? Sound off in the comments section below.
