Sons Of Anarchy antihero Jax Teller had a few relationships during the show's run but the two women he was closest too were Tara and Wendy. Even though she made a few bad decisions influenced by extreme circumstances, Tara was one of the few characters that had a high moral compass.
Wendy started out as drug addict though she later made efforts to recover and become closer to her son. Even though Jax was often closer to Tara, there were times when Wendy seemed like she could have been the perfect lover for him. Here's an argument for both Wendy and Tara as Jax's lovers.
Jax & Tara: They Worked Together To Solve Tara's "Stubborn Ex" Problem
Tara had gotten a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend Kohn hut he still followed her to Charming. To protect Tara, Jax messed up with Kohn's car, gave him a mandatory whopping (because that's what gang leaders do), and escorted him nicely out of town in the same manner that Sheriff Teasle did to John Rambo.
But just like John Rambo, the stubborn Kohn made a u-turn, returned to Charming, and sneaked into Tara's house. He attacked her and in self-defense, she shot and injured him. Jack then arrived and the two figured there was no need to let Kohn live since he'd continue harassing Tara. So Jax killed him.
Jax & Wendy: She Became Sober In Order To Reunite With Him
True lovers miss each other even when they are no romantically involved and that appeared to be the case for Wendy. In the first season, Wendy who had been a drug addict for a long time went to Promises rehab and made real strides to become sober.
She wanted to reunite with Jax since she wished for them to be a family again. Luckily, Tara and Gemma's hostility towards each other helped bring her closer to Jax. Gemma made it her mission to destroy Jax's relationship with Tara. This led to the former lovers reconciling and making love.
Jax & Tara: She Agreed To Become His "Old Lady"
By the end of the first season, Tara was planning to return to Chicago because she just wasn't sure whether she was cut out for the chaotic life in Charming. But the heart wants what the heart wants so she changed her mind and decided to stay.
At the start of the second season, she officially became Jax's "Old Lady". An "Old Lady" was the wife or official girlfriend of a SAMCRO member. Despite Tara having her doubts, she compromised and agreed to be there for Jax and that was a perfect example of true love.
Jax & Wendy: He Boosted Her Relationship With Abel
Ever since she got clean, Wendy had been trying hard to get to know her son Abel. It was her fault that Abel had health issues in the first place but she was very regretful over this and she sought to make amends. However, the circumstances made it hard for her to get close to Abel.
But when Tara died, Wendy began taking care of Thomas and Abel. Jax went a step further by telling Abel that Wendy was indeed is his biological mother. This went a long way in improving the relationship between mother and son and Wendy was totally grateful.
Jax & Tara: They Raised Abel Together
As a pediatrician at St. Thomas Thomas, Tara did a great job of treating and taking care of Jax and Wendy's sick infant son Abel Teller. And when she agreed to become Jax's Old Lady, she took care of Abel with utmost dedication like he was her own son.
Tara was such a good mom to Abel that when Wendy came back in later seasons, Abel had doubts about whether she was his mother. Jax had to let Abel know that Wendy was in fact his real mom. And that's when Abel said something that made Jack realize that Gemma had killed Tara.
Jax & Wendy: They Forgave Each Other
Any father would be angry after learning that his son has health issues because his mother took methamphetamine while pregnant. This kinda explains why Jax hated Wendy at first. However, he managed to forgive Wendy and that's a sign of true love.
Jax did plenty of bad things to Wendy too, including constantly threatening her. Then there was that sad moment when he injected her with drugs. Wendy could have chosen to stay away from Jax forever but she forgave him and stuck with him until he died.
Jax & Tara: The Cute Proposal
At the beginning of the fourth season. Jax was released from prison. After attending a meeting at the clubhouse, he made love to Tara. Shortly after, he proposed to her in a romantic manner by putting the engagement ring on the finger of their son Thomas.
The fact that this wasn't an ordinary proposal was further emphasized when Tara wanted some reassurances first. Jax assured her that he was going to leave SAMCRO. He was only staying until Clay stepped down so that he and Gemma wouldn't try to stop him. That turned out not to be true but for the moment, it was cute.
Jax & Wendy: She Fit Into Jax's World
Tara never really fit into Jax's life of crime and violence. She was a doctor who could have had a better life elsewhere. This became evident from how frequently she wanted to leave Charming. She had even stayed away fro many years before she became back.
Wendy, on the other hand, was a perfect fit. She and Jax were said to have been passionate buddies before they got married. She mentioned in the first season that she used to be a "Crow Eater" (women who enjoyed spending time with SAMCRO members) for three years before she got together with Jax. She thus suited Jax more since he was never really going to leave his chaotic world.
Jax & Tara: He Made A Deal With The District Attorney To Protect Her
In the sixth season, the relentless District Attorney Tyne Patterson wanted to take down the whole of SAMCRO as well as Tara. When Jax went to see Tara in the motel room she had been hiding in, he told her that he'd approach the DA to arrange an immunity deal for her and the club.
Tara had been accused of the murder of Pamela Toric, but she had nothing to do with it. Luckily, Tyne agreed to Jax's offer and this was basically relief for Tara. With this move, he had let her know just how much he cared about her.
Jax & Wendy: He Sold The House And Garage To Leave Enough Money For Her
When Jax was getting closer to his demise in the seventh season, he made plans for Wendy and the kids to be comfortable after he was gone. He talked to Nero so that he would take them to his uncle's farm where they would be safe.
He also sold his house and garage so as to leave enough money for Wendy and the children. He then told Nero to tell Wendy the truth after he was gone. And while saying his goodbyes, he told Wendy that he loved her so much and she was a good mother. Truly the best goodbye a gangster can give to his lover.
