When Sons of Anarchy first showed up on viewers TV's, it was a unique take on a surprisingly underused concept. For years people have written stories about bank robbers, serial killers, and dirty cops, but shows about biker gangs were unheard of.

While much of what made Sons of Anarchy one of the best shows to ever air on television still drives fans to re-watch episodes to this day, there are specific plots and ideas that really look outdated by today's standards.

Gemma And Tara's Conflicts

The turbulent relationship between these two was inevitable and realistic, especially if fans look at it from a real-world perspective. Though, when looking back on the show, the constant conflict that these two were constantly in is a bit tiring to the eyes, mainly because it was just so repetitive and expected.

It is clear that the writers of the show wanted to make it clear that these two loathed each other but did so, so many times that it was almost a relief when Tara was killed off.

Portrayal Of Biker Gangs

There are so many things that Sons of Anarchy got wrong when it come to what it was like to be in an actual biker gang. One doesn't have to be in one to understand that when it comes to money, drugs, and the outlaw life, the whole concept of brotherhood till the end, just isn't feasible or practical.

Local law enforcement would not believe a biker gang is an asset to the town nor would that town look positively on those in the gang.

The Supernatural Element Of The Homeless Woman

There are just a few concepts that did not go well together. One of those concepts involves mixing supernatural elements into a story about outlaw bikers, running guns, and supplying cartels with drugs.

All the imagery surrounding the homeless woman in the background was wasted space, as it never clarified one way or the other who she was or what her real purpose was. It was only there to be clickbait for hardcore fans who searched for interesting things in the background.

Opie's Blind Loyalty To SAMCRO

Opie was one of the best main characters on Sons of Anarchy and after his death, the show took a dramatic hit from a story-line perspective. That said, Opie's loyalty to the club just never made much sense.

He obviously loved his wife so much so that he could never get over her but at the same time, was still willing to be in a club that was solely responsible for her death. Even after his father was murdered by Clay, he still remained loyal.

Jax's Reaction To Opie's Death

Some character deaths are more powerful than others to viewers and the other characters on the show. Opie's death on Sons of Anarchy reverberated across the world in which the characters lived in but none were as affected by it as Jax was.

Of course, this was to be expected, since they had been best friends since childhood. At the time, fans felt Jax's rage and rightfully so. However, as time has progressed, Jax's initial reaction and actions afterward now feels a little over the top.

School Shooting Episode

From a creative standpoint, there shouldn't be any topics that are off-limits but from a compassionate mindset, certain topics should just be left alone. School shootings have a way of bringing everyone together and for good reason.

These are horrible tragedies that leave families across the world devastated. For some reason, Sons of Anarchy wished to tie such a tragedy into one of their plots. Sadly, years later, this still feels like a tone-deaf moment for an otherwise exceptional show.

Was Jax A Villain Or Hero?

During its run on FX, the idea that Jax Teller was anything less than the main protagonist on the show was all but laughable. Especially since there were many instances where he was the conscience of the club.

However, after watching the series in its entirety, it is hard to understand Jax's less than pragmatic approaches to situations. In a certain light, Jax was always SAMCRO's greatest antagonist as his actions forced so much chaos and harm on other SAMCRO members.

Juice's Death Wish

After murdering his fellow SAMCRO member Miles after Miles discovers Juice stealing cocaine from the club. Juice turned from the lovable imbecile to a tragic figure who only dreamed of ending his pain.

This normally would lead to drama-filled moments that would grab the attention of viewers. Instead, it just left fans scratching their heads as to how the feds blackmailed Juice into committing the act of treachery by threatening to reveal his mixed-race heritage to SAMCRO members who already obviously knew this information.

Forgettable Prospects

Sons of Anarchy was known for its popular main cast of characters that littered each season. These characters became people that fans cried with when tragedy struck them and cried for when they met their untimely ends.

However, the same cannot be said for many of the SAMCRO prospects on the show, who were basically either used as expendable characters for when death needed to strike close to the club or for the lowest forms of comic relief during many of the filler moments in each episode.

Corrupt Police Officers

In shows where those on the wrong side of the law are the main protagonists, fans expect law enforcement and the protagonists to be in a constant struggle for moral high-ground.

These stories usually revolve around both sides feeling morally in the right or justified in their actions. However, when it comes to how police officers are portrayed on Sons of Anarchy, it is not hard to spot how the cops are shown to be more corrupt than the bad guys they are trying to stop.
