There is no messiah in Sons Of Anarchy but there are several clones of Judas. With greed being a common trait, betrayal happens all the time and the consequences are always deadly. Characters in the FX series keep backstabbing each other at a rate that is shocking but totally entertaining.
The dark world is not without its angels. Chibs never goes against his club despite being tempted to do so. Opie would never even consider being a traitor. Unser also remains loyal to the Sons for most of his life, only to be killed by Jax. Alas, for most of the other characters, betrayal is a fair tactic to ensure survival.
Charlie Barosky Tells The Triads About SAMCRO's Guns
Dirty Stockton PD cop Charlie Barosky initially builds a good relationship with SAMCRO, helping the club set up escort parlors and letting them know about the progress of the district attorney's investigations. He even helps them store their guns in a safe place at the Stockton port.
Things go south when someone tips off the rival Chinese Triad gang about the location of the club's weapons. Indian Hills president Jury White is considered the snitch but his innocence is proven after Lin tells Juice that it was Barosky who told his men about the weapons. He did it simply because the Triads were offering him more money. Jax makes Barosky pay by shooting him at his bakery.
Bobby Sleeps With Otto's Wife
Bobby is a good guy for most of the series but he temporarily becomes despicable when he sleeps with Luann Delaney. The Cara Cara porn studio owner happens to be the 'Old Lady' of incarcerated SAMCRO member Otto.
Since SAMCRO has invested in Cara Cara, Bobby is given a job as a bookkeeper there. He soon discovers that Luann is stealing from the club. Desperate to keep it a secret, Luann offers to sleep with Bobby and he agrees. Otto soon finds out and the incident almost causes him to turn against the club.
June Stahl Guns Down Her Lover And Frames Her
After breaking up with David Hale, Stahl starts dating fellow ATF agent Amy Tyler. Stahl comes off as the dominant and abusive in the relationship as she keeps barking at Amy whenever she disagrees with her. Despite Stahl's attitude, Amy loves her deeply.
A shocking twist happens when Stahl murders Amy and frames her for the death of Edmond Hayes. Stahl, who shot Edmond multiple times during a deadly confrontation, had initially attempted to frame Gemma for the murders but it didn't stick. She thus chose to make the nicer Amy appear as the culprit.
The Russian Mafia Hands Over Jimmy O To SAMCRO
After fleeing from Northern Ireland to California, Jimmy O hires the Russian Mafia for protection, since both the Sons and the True IRA are hunting him down. He promises their leader Putlova $2 million dollars, though he only manages to raise $700,000.
The Sons discover that Jimmy O is under the Russian Mafia's protection so they offer $2 million for the Irish crime boss to be handed over to them. Putlova agrees and kills Jimmy O's henchman before handing him over the main man to the Sons. Putlova's greed comes to bite him when he realizes that the money he has been given is counterfeit.
SAMBEL Tries To Wipe Out The Mother Charter
Having been founded by members of the First 9, the Sons of Anarchy, Belfast Charter aka SAMBEL is supposed to be totally loyal to SAMCRO. Sadly, its president Keith McGee and Sergeant-at-Arms Liam O'Neill become overambitious and start working for Jimmy O. SAMBEL's plan is to take SAMCRO out of the gun business and get all the profits.
O'Neill goes one step further by plotting with Jimmy O to wipe out all the visiting Sons using a weapon shipment rigged with explosives. Unfortunately for SAMBEL, the plan doesn't go so well. Consequently, O'Neill is tortured and killed while McGee is pushed off a building by Clay.
Juice Becomes An Informant
AUSA Potter targets Juice in Season 4 and tries to turn him into an informant. He's just discovered that Juice's father is Black and since SAMCRO initially has a policy against having African American members, he figures this will be a problem for the man. After being threatened with the information, Juice agrees to cooperate.
Since Lincoln wants proof that the Sons are dealing in drugs, Juice steals a cocaine brick from the warehouse. It's soon discovered that the brick is missing, so Juice tries to blame the Prospects Filthy Phil and Ratboy. Juice is caught with the brick by Miles and in order to prevent him from talking, he kills him. He later comes clean to the club about his heritage only to realize that it was never that big of a deal. His betrayal was for nothing.
Clay Pretends He Isn't Working With The Nomads
In order to undermine Jax's leadership and reinsert himself as the head of the club, Clay hires the Nomads (Greg, GoGo, and Frankie) to conduct home invasions in Charming. This way, Jax will seem like he's unable to do his job. For their work, Clay promises to pay them using some of his cocaine and gun money.
The Nomads consider killing Unser when he begins investigating them. Greg and GoGo ambush the cop in his trailer, not knowing he is with Clay. Unser manages to shoot GoGo dead while Clay, pretending he is not working with the men, reacts by shooting Greg. He then lies that it is Damon Pope who hired the Nomads in order to make Jax look weak.
SAMCRO, The One-Niners, And The Mayans Team Up To Take Out August Marks' Crew
Jax's betrayal of August Marks ends up having serious consequences. In Season 7, Jax promises Marks that he won't move against the Chinese. He also promises to keep on working with Marks. However, Jax puts his revenge plan against the Chinese in motion without informing Marks.
SAMCRO then teams up with the Mayans and the One-Niners to wipe out Marks's crew. When Marks discovers what is happening, he kidnaps Bobby and has his fingers cut off. Bobby's eye also gets gouged out. Jax tries to exchange the leverage he has on Marks with Bobby but Marks shoots Bobby during the meeting.
Jax Sets Up Damon Pope
One of the show's smartest and most menacing villains fails to see his death coming. Oakland crime boss Damon Pope makes it his life's mission to make SAMCRO pay for the death of his daughter Veronica, even though it's only Tig who is at fault. Despite burning Tig's daughter alive and having Opie beaten to death in prison, he still demands Tig's blood.
Despite the fact that Pope is doing business with Jax, he expects the man to just watch as he tears apart SAMCRO. Jax doesn't do that. He leads Pope to a warehouse, lying to him that he is going to give him Tig. Instead, Jax shoots Pope's henchmen and offers Tig a pistol so that he can get vengeance.
Clay And Gemma Overthrow JT
John Teller's death happens in 1993 when he hit by a truck while riding his bike and dragged 178 yards. It's later revealed that it's Clay who forced JT's mechanic to mess with the bike, which led to the crush. It also emerges that Gemma was in on the whole plan as she had started seeing Clay behind JT's back.
Both Gemma and Clay wanted to eliminate JT because of his conflicting views. JT wanted to take SAMCRO out of the gun business while Clay felt it was a good business. Killing a member who hasn't been handed the Mayhem vote is the biggest crime. Though it happens offscreen, Clay and Gemma's plan can be considered the biggest betrayal in the series.
