None of the characters in Sons Of Anarchy are perfect. They are a biker gang who have no problems killing people and working in illegal businesses such as selling guns. However, out of all the characters, few are more shameful than Gemma Teller.

She might not be riding around on motorbikes blowing things up, but she is the person behind the scenes pulling all of the strings. Nearly all of the bad things that happen to the group tend to be related to Gemma and her involvement.

While some of the things she does aren't her fault, many of them are. Gemma is sly, manipulating, and very cunning, which leads her to make some terrible decisions throughout the course of the show. Here are her most shameful moments.

Encouraging Overdose

Jax, Gemma and Wendy in Sons of Anarchy

Gemma makes it clear right from the start that she is prepared to do whatever is necessary in order to protect her family. In the pilot episode, a drug-addicted Wendy is visited by Gemma in the hospital where she makes it clear just how she feels about her.

Gemma tells Wendy that she will kill her if she even attempts to get custody of her newborn child and then goes as far as to offer her drugs to overdose with. The fact she not only put out the scare tactic but went as far as to offer drugs shows there is no level she will not stoop too.

Threatening To Kill A Baby

If you thought that Gemma offering Wendy the chance to kill herself was bad, things get far worse for her throughout the show. While she does a lot of despicable things, she normally does them with family in mind and takes looking after children fairly seriously with her grandkids.

When the group head to Ireland to try and find Abel, Gemma does anything to get what she wants which includes holding a baby hostage with a gun to its head. Even the rest of the SAMCRO group is stunned at this, as it really is a shameful moment, even if she's looking out for her own.

Skateboard

Gemma's role in the events of Sons of Anarchy.

One of the random shameful moments of Gemma's life came when she used a skateboard as a surprise weapon. The moment came from out of nowhere and Gemma just got the skateboard and smashed it into Cherry's head.

Angry that she had to pick up menopause medication, she takes her frustrations out on Cherry's face in front of everyone. Gemma is clearly embarrassed and she takes it out on someone else, acting like a child.

Leading On Unser

Unser in Sons of Anarchy

One of the most heartwarming characters on the show is former Charming Police Chief, Wayne Unser. He might be a crooked cop, but deep down he always wants what is best for the Sons Of Anarchy, and in particular, Gemma Teller, who he loves deeply.

The two of them have a long history together and because of that and his feelings for her, Wayne will do anything for her. Sadly, this is something that Gemma is more than happy to play on. She teases him enough to keep Unser interested and close, but then happily shoves him away.

Giving Abel A SAMCRO Ring

Gemma is incredibly loyal to the club and seems to want it to live on within the family more than anybody else on the show. This is clear during a meeting she has with her grandson Abel when she makes the decision to give him a SAMCRO ring.

Despite knowing how dangerous being in the club is and the damage it has caused her and the entire family, she still pushes for him to be involved. She's willingly sending her grandson down a terrible path, and it's a truly shameful and poor moment, but shows her loyalty until the end.

Grabbing A Federal Agent

Gemma's longevity in the Sons of Anarchy series.

Gemma does a lot of wild things over the course of the show, often not being very subtle with her decision making. One of those times comes when she just grabs a federal agent, inside the police station of all places, proving that she often acts before she thinks.

Gemma does this to try and stop Jax from heading to jail, but the decision-making process is a crazy one and luckily for her, the agent doesn't call it in. However, that doesn't make the moment, not a shameful one.

Killing Tara

Gemma has an issue with any woman that ever ends up in Jax's life. She absolutely hates Wendy and tries to deal with her, but the relationship she has with Tara is even more strained. The two of them come to blows constantly, doing everything they can to get the other out of their lives.

Eventually, things go to the next level physically and Gemma ends up being the person responsible for killing her. The two of them get into a brawl and it is Gemma who comes out on top, murdering the mother of her grandchild and the love of Jax's life.

Killing Her Husband

Gemma standing and contemplating in Sons of Anarchy

While we never actually see the moment that it happens, we do learn that alongside her husband Clay, Gemma is responsible for the death of her first husband, John Teller. Though he's the original 9 president and father of Jax, Gemma shows no remorse about the situation.

She goes a long way to hide the lie though, which proves she is firmly shameful of the situation. Gemma knows how serious the moment was and even though it isn't something that happens in the present timeline of the show, it is a big moment of her life.

Pushing To Kill Clay

Speaking of murdering husbands, John Teller isn't the only person that Gemma organizes the death of. Her relationship with Clay is certainly a complicated one and it has a rocky road once he assaults her, but it doesn't make it right when she tells Jax to kill him.

Rather than just letting things take their course, as they would have done, Gemma feels the need to involve herself and force the issue. Not wanting to pull the trigger herself, Gemma shamefully goes around and makes it happen anyway.

Car Crash

While Gemma Teller's relationship with her grandchildren is certainly an overbearing one due to wanting to one-up Tara, there's no denying that she deeply cares for them. That is why her car crash is easily her most shameful moment, as it's something that she clearly regrets.

Gemma is looking after the kids and puts them in the car, but she already has been smoking weed. Instead of being responsible and not risking their lives, Gemma seems to think she's invincible and drives anyway. Things go wrong and they crash, and while nobody is too badly hurt, the risk was certainly there.
