Sons Of Anarchy was a very contentious show that always had a lot going on that seemed like it was all bad. But fans know that it was more of a mixed bag all the time. Characters dropping like flies, secrets being held onto and shared with the wrong people.

It was a show that became increasingly hard for fans to decide whose side they were actually on when it came down to the nitty-gritty. It was not usually until something really bad happened and viewers were forced to choose sides that they did. But not all of the relationships were toxic, some of them were really sweet too.

Unhealthy: Jax & Gemma

Gemma's influence on Jax in Sons of Anarchy.

Probably the most unhealthy relationship that existed throughout the entire run of the show most fans would say. Gemma manipulated Jax from the time he was a boy by telling him lies about how his father had died. Acting as quite possibly one of the worst mothers in history she never truly seemed to care about much other than the legacy of the club.

As Jax grew closer to the truth it became harder for him to accept but once he found out what Gemma had done to Tara all bets were off and she got the ending that she had always deserved for what she had done to countless people.

Wholesome: Wendy & Abel

Wendy started off being one of the main antagonistic forces in the show, a junkie who viewers wanted to see away from her son as she quickly had put the young boy in danger. But as time passed and she got her act together she soon became a safe haven for not only her child but the child of Tara and Jax as well.

Being there for Jax after Gemma had murdered Tara, Wendy eventually took the boys away and became the one to raise them. Bringing her story full circle in a way that not many fans saw coming but is very heartwarming to see, and is just good writing by Kurt Sutter.

Unhealthy: Clay & Tig

Tig was always willing to do anything that Clay said, loyal to a fault and that was his downfall. He looked at everything as for the club, when in reality he was usually just cleaning up Clay's personal mistakes.

This is further evidenced by the fact that after Clay is not in charge or even after he dies, Tig remains loyal to the club and practically begs forgiveness for his past sins while acting on Clays behalf.

Wholesome: Gemma & Chuckie

Gemma did not have many relationships that were good ones, but the way that she was with Chuckie was always a breath of fresh air to viewers. She always seemed to genuinely care about the man, now she definitely sensed that he was in love with her much like Unser but never manipulated him in the same way.

Instead, she helped him in any way that she possibly could which was out of character, but maybe she just felt that she needed to do some sort of good somewhere in her life. Audience members loved the character of Chuckie because he was always looking to help, sometimes he helped Gemma to his detriment but it was only because she cared for him.

Unhealthy: Juice & Gemma

Juice had a rough run in the last few seasons after already having a tough go of it for a long time being the only man that is not white in a club that had roots in racism.

But when he caught Gemma red-handed after killing Tara he had two choices, he chose wrong out of fear knowing what type of person Gemma is and fearing what she could do to him. This ended up not helping him much in the short-term or the long-run, a man who could not catch a break had to look Jax in the eyes and tell him the truth about what happened.

Wholesome: Jax & Opie

Jax discusses Clay's recklessness with Opie

Two best friends who grew up together with aspirations of taking over SAMCRO one day like their fathers who were there when it all began. After Jax found his father's journal Opie was one of the only ones in the club who agreed with trying to get the Sons out of guns.

Their bond ran deeper than most others in the show and it made the death scene of Opies in season 4 one of the hardest to watch for fans of the show.

Unhealthy: Unser & Gemma

Unser informs Gemma about Jax and Tara's deal

Unser was in love with Gemma from before the first episode, he knows pretty much every dirty secret she has. Gemma uses that to her advantage throughout the run of the show to manipulate him into doing whatever she wants and needs from him.

This woman manipulates this sick man right up until the moment he dies, then she dies. There was never another way he was going to go unless cancer took him, he was so in love with her and the writing was just so beautifully done.

Wholesome: Mayans & SAMCRO

The relationship between these two clubs is one of the most wholesome in the entire series. Sister show Mayans MC shows a little bit more of this relationship and its continued peace, but it was not always like that.

The show started off with the clubs as rivals and built them into allies and friends. Having the crews eventually grow to trust each other with their lives and livelihood. Two rival gangs becoming groups of friends that have barbecues, audiences everywhere can agree that it is very wholesome.

Unhealthy: Gemma & Tara

There were years of back and forth, false starts, they almost seemed like they were bonding at some points. But when Gemma found out that Tara was finally getting the kids away from this messed up lifestyle she stabbed her repeatedly with a carving fork in the back of the head.

Fans screamed at the screen, pissed and rightfully so, no one watching this series wanted Gemma to win. In hindsight no one really won, it seems that the relationship and its toxicity is more an allegory for the fact that you should not live in this lifestyle at all if you do not want bad things to happen to you and those you care about.

Wholesome: Chibs & Jax

The one-man that always had good advice and came on board with Jax in the endgame for SAMCRO to go legit was Chibs. A man who really cares about human beings at their core and is not just in this club for the money or the drugs or gang culture. More for the familial aspect, he was discarded by his Irish brothers and adopted by this new family so the acceptance of his brothers and creating a place of acceptance is what he finds important.

His and Jax's relationship represents a bright future for the club, one that the Kurt Sutter probably saw as necessary with all of the deaths towards the end of the show. Chibs is the one who deserved the club and the bright light that keeps the future looking good.
