Logs

Printer Resin

Duct Tape

Rope

If players hope to survive Sons of the Forest, they will need to collect essential resources found across the remote island of cannibals. Resources are either natural, coming from trees and the ground, or manmade, found in crates or interest points. If players can memorize where to get important items, they will have a better time establishing their base and preparing to further explore the island.

The crafting system of The Forest series is the same between Sons of the Forest and its parent game The Forest. Players must collect sticks and stones and seeds to build weapons, armor, and shelter. Some of the most important and universal resources in the game are logs, sticks, duct tape, printer resin, and rope. Logs and sticks are the basis for dozens of crafting recipes while printer resin is vital to using 3D printers.

Finding Logs

Harvesting logs in Sons of the Forest

Players begin Sons of the Forest with an emergency pack, which includes an ax. This ax is vital to collecting logs, as players must chop down trees in order to create and collect them.

Players are unable to carry many logs at a time, so it is best to harvest logs near where they plan to build their base, using tips that worked in The Forest. Logs can be used to build cabins, bridges, and other major shelters.

Collecting Sticks

The other most essential natural item in Sons of the Forest would have to be sticks. Found on the ground or from saplings, sticks are used in over three dozen crafting recipes, including shelters, traps, and fires. Some of the other natural resources in the game include blueberry seeds to build planters, feathers & small rocks for stone arrows, and leaves to build fires and leaf armor.

All of these natural resources in Sons of the Forest are easy to collect, but the game grows more difficult when players need manmade items like duct tape. Luckily, the island is full of lost crates and small outposts of abandoned civilization for the player to scavenge and prepare to fight the disgusting foes in Sons of the Forest.

Finding and Using Printer Resin

Crates are found scattered throughout the island in Sons of the Forest, each containing many essential items for players to use.

Printer resin may seem like a useless tool in a survival situation, but players can find 3D printers all around the island inside yellow lid crates. These printers can make items such as a water flask, a grappling hook, and sturdy arrows.

Duct Tape in Sons of the Forest

Yellow crates are also a great place to find duct tape, useful to hold together various builds in Sons of the Forest. Also found in red cases, players need duct tape if they hope to craft a spear, bow, or stick bed to save their game. This essential item is surprisingly common, so players should find some after searching a few crates.

Where To Get Rope

The last essential manmade item in Sons of the Forest would have to be rope. Rope is used in traps to collect food in Sons of the Forest, bows to use arrows, and advanced builds like the rope bridge.

This vital resource can be found inside wooden crates or many points of interest, as discussed by Gamers Heroes on YouTube. If players can carefully store their essential resources, they will be equipped for any challenge presented in Sons of the Forest.
