Sons of Anarchy saw many deaths, especially within the title club, and there’s one episode that has the most main character deaths, which contributed to making one season the one with the most deaths of main characters. In 2008, Kurt Sutter took the audience into the world of motorcycle clubs in the drama action TV series Sons of Anarchy, which was so well-received by critics and viewers that it lived on for a total of seven seasons, with most praise going towards the performances of the main cast and the themes addressed in the show, such as brotherhood, corruption, and racism.

Sons of Anarchy took the audience to the fictional town of Charming, California, to follow the title club through Jackson “Jax” Teller (Charlie Hunnam), the VP of the club and the son of John 'JT' Teller, one of SAMCRO’s founding members. The series kicks off when Jax finds his father’s manifesto, in which he shared his ideas and views for the club, which were very different from those of the club’s current President (and Jax’s stepfather), Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman). This, and other problems within the club and with other groups make Jax question his relationships, family, and role in the club, and unfortunately, this also led to many deaths, including those of some of his fellow SAMCRO members.

Over the course of seven seasons, Sons of Anarchy saw Jax and the club confronting different enemies, and some of those confrontations resulted in the deaths of people close to Jax. Viewers saw beloved characters like Opie Winston (Ryan Hurst) and Tara Knowles (Maggie Siff) die in different seasons, but Sons of Anarchy season 7 has the episode with the most main characters’ deaths: “Red Rose”, the second to last episode of the series, which saw the deaths of Juice Ortiz (Theo Rossi), Wayne Unser (Dayton Callie), and Gemma Teller-Morrow (Katey Sagal), and along with the series finale, it made Sons of Anarchy season 7 the one with the most deaths of main characters.

“Red Rose” was the episode where Jax finally avenged Tara’s death as he learned that his mother, Gemma, was the one who killed her and lied to Jax. Gemma’s lies led to a major conflict between SAMCRO and other groups, and as a result, Bobby Munson (Mark Boone Junior) was killed. Before killing Gemma, Jax killed Wayne Unser, who tried to convince Jax not to kill his mother. Meanwhile, Juice continued to be tortured and raped in prison, and he told Tully (Marilyn Manson) that he knew Jax had tasked him to kill him, so he handed him a scalpel and his only request was that Tully let him finish his cherry pie. Tully’s guys then created a distraction, and Tully stabbed Juice repeatedly in the neck. The following episode, which is the Sons of Anarchy finale, saw the death of Jax when he sacrificed himself in a way that mirrored his father’s death, and with his death and that of Bobby earlier in the season, Sons of Anarchy season 7 had the most main characters' deaths.

Although most characters in Sons of Anarchy did terrible things during the events of the series and before, and some deaths, like Clay’s and Gemma’s, were “necessary”, many of them were heartbreaking, especially those of members of the club. Sons of Anarchy season 7 is an emotionally charged season that also featured a lot of action, and it holds the sad record of most main characters' deaths, including that of the series’ main character, but all this contributed to it being a fitting and satisfying ending to the series.
