Nobody’s perfect, not even Sonic The Hedgehogand now there’s a video to prove it from the good people at Did You Know Gaming. The newest DYKG video was just released yesterday and details many of the errors in Sega’s long-running, high-speed flagship franchise ranging from localization gaffs to humorous technical glitches.

There have been several interesting stories and trivia pieces regarding the Sonic series over the years, be they in the form of the process of first developing the character as a competitor to Nintendo’s iconic Mario, the rushed and troubled production of the infamous Sonic The Hedgehog game from 2006or even the drama around the character’s redesign for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie. As each new game was released throughout the course of Sonic’s nearly-three decade-long run, new tidbits and Easter eggs have been discovered and chronicled throughout the fandom, including the bloopers detailed in the video below.

The newest Did You Know Gaming video, released yesterday on YouTube, lists several mistakes in both Sonic games and their supplementary material. These include humorous spelling and translation errors in instruction manuals and game credits, mis-coloring Dr. Eggman/Robotnik’s eyes on the Sonic 2 cover art, mentions of power-ups and stages that never actually appear in the game in question, Zones being ordered incorrectly on the Stage Select screen, and gameplay glitches that range from allowing players to defeat Robotnik during the pre-fight cutscene to Sonic accidentally killing himself by running off the screen before the camera can catch up to him. Interested Sonic fans can watch the full video below:

Formed in 2012, Did You Know Gaming is a video game-focused blog which produces trivia videos for various popular game franchises, some of which are set to voiceovers from popular internet personalities like Arin “Egoraptor” Hanson and a cappella cover singer Smooth McGroove. In addition to the Mistakes video, they have also covered Sonic in videos detailing the Sonic Adventure titles, 2017’s releases of Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces, the Sonic Boom cartoon, and other trivia featuring the series’ villains, various gaming glitches, and even the ways the Sonic series has been changed and censored in the transition from its native Japan to the West.

This latest video is a fascinating look at the process behind the Sonic games and their characters over the years, and a good number of the mistakes featured are sure to provide a chuckle or two. It’s unlikely that the new Sonic The Hedgehog movie will feature Jim Carrey’s Robotnik with vacant black eyes or Sonic running to his death on the edge of the movie screen, but until it hits theaters this Friday players can look back at “Berra Hudson’s” “preeformace” as Blaze the Cat in Sonic Rush, jam to the tunes of Knuckles the Porcupine, or try to rescue the pink, hammer-wielding “Princess Sally” from Metal Sonic in Sonic CD.
