Will ABC's high-concept drama Somewhere Between return for a second season? Somewhere Between is a remake of 2014 Korean drama God's Gift: 14 Days, which revolved around a woman whose young daughter is murdered, and she suddenly finds herself sent back in time two weeks before her death and tries to change her child's fate. Somewhere Between cast Paula Patton (2 Guns) in the lead role, playing a reporter who tries to commit suicide following her daughter's death - only to wake up eight days before it happened.
Somewhere Between also starred Devon Sawa (Final Destination) as an ex-cop who travels back in time too, and he teams with Patton's Laura to stop a serial killer and save her child. Despite being based on a well-received Korean drama and featuring a rich, Back To The Future-style premise, Somewhere Between received mixed reviews for its first season and mediocre ratings.
Will ABC give the drama a chance to go back in time with Somewhere Between season 2 and fix its mistakes, or is it finished?
ABC Cancelled Somewhere Between After Season 1
Despite featuring a talented cast and an intriguing hook, Somewhere Between just didn't click with viewers. The show took a few episodes to find its feet and settle on a tone, and its generally considered to have gotten better around midway through its run. This did little to improve its ratings, so in a move that didn't come as much of a surprise, Somewhere Between was cancelled by ABC following season 1 finale "One Must Die." The final episode actually provided the main characters with a happy ending, so it could be argued it didn't really need another season anyway.
There Are No Signs Of Somewhere Season 2 Being Revived
Sometimes a popular show can survive cancellation when it's picked up by another network or streaming platform, such as Designated Survivor's move to Network for its third season or Brooklyn Nine-Nine landing a new home on NBC. It doesn't seem this will happen with Somewhere Between season 2 since it doesn't appear the series was shipped around following its cancellation.
While Somewhere Between had an audience its appeal was ultimately quite limited, and there was no real outcry following its cancellation for the story to continue. While stranger things have happened in TV land, its looking very unlikely Somewhere Between will be revived, and with the story being essentially wrapped up by its season 1 finale, that might be for the best.
