The Slaughterverse is expanding, as Something is Killing the Children is getting a brand-new one-shot, Book of Slaughter, which will expand the world of the hugely popular BOOM! Studios comic book. The upcoming story, from James Tynion IV, Werther Dell'Edera, Miquel Muerto, and AndWorld Design, will turn the focus to White Mask Maxine Slaughter that will be a precursor to the upcoming chapters of Something is Killing the Children and House of Slaughter.
Something is Killing the Children is a multi-Eisner Award-winning series created by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell'Edera from BOOM! Studios, as the original story focused on a group of children missing in the town of Archer's Peak, where monster hunter Erica Slaughter investigated and took on the mysterious creatures as more death and chaos occurred. The critically acclaimed ongoing series has run for 25 issues so far, with a spinoff, House of Slaughter, focusing on the history of the organization that turned Slaughter into a monster hunter, debuting in late 2021. Something is Killing the Children is set to be adapted into a live-action series at Netflix, where Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy are spearheading the project.
We can exclusively reveal the next chapter in the Slaughterverse, as James Tynion IV, Wether Dell'Edera, Miquel Muerto, and Andworld Design will be teaming up for a new Something is Killing the Children spinoff titled Book of Slaughter. The one-shot will focus on White Mask Maxine Slaughter. The story will reveal more about the secrets of the Order of St. George and set the stage for future arcs for both SiKTC and House of Slaughter. Book of Slaughter #1 will feature a "sizable guidebook" that dives into the deep lore of the Slaughterverse. Dell'Edera shared that Erica Slaughter's world is "bigger than anyone could have expected," and readers will see more of it explored. Eric Harburn, Executive Editor of BOOM! Studios said Maxime Slaughter's story will take a closer look at the mysterious nature of the Slaughterverse.
