UPDATE: The new Solo: A Star Wars Story trailer is here!

Lucasfilm is set to release the full trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story tomorrow – but what time exactly can fans expect it to drop? After debuting the middle chapter of the latest Star Wars trilogy in December, Lucasfilm is already gearing up to launch a new anthology film. When the studio was acquired by Disney in 2012, the announcement arrived with assurances that the Star Wars franchise would be reinvigorated with new installments in the Skywalker Saga as well as spinoff movies. The first spinoff, Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, hit theaters in 2016, becoming a critical and financial success. Next, Ron Howard's Solo: A Star Wars Story will return fans to the galaxy far, far away.

Although Solo's production was plagued by widely reported difficulties behind the scenes, which culminated in Howard taking over for previous directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, fans are excited to learn more about fan-favorite smuggler Han Solo. For Solo, Alden Ehrenreich takes on the role that was originated by Harrison Ford in the original movie saga. Fans got their first look at Ehrenreich as Han in the official Solo: A Star Wars Story teaser trailer earlier this year. However, now Lucasfilm has announced a new trailer for Solo will arrive tomorrow, but didn't specify an exact time.

This new Solo trailer is tied to ABC's two-hour episode of American Idol that airs in the 8pm ET time slot on Sunday. It's possible the trailer will debut at the start of the program, but may be held to the very end. Either way, fans should expect the new Solo: A Star Wars Story trailer to release between 8pm-10pm ET (5pm-7pm PT & 12am-2am GMT) on Sunday, April 8.

Han Solo and Chewbacca

Though we don't know what exactly the full Solo trailer will show, we'll no doubt get more information about the story of the film. The official Solo synopsis is light on details, but we know Han will team up with Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) and a young Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover). Hopefully, we'll learn more about new Star Wars characters Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke), Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson), Val (Thandie Newton), and the mysterious villain Enfys Nest. And, of course, we'll get to see more of the Millennium Falcon, which is just as much of a character in the Star Wars franchise.

It remains to be seen whether Lucasfilm has another critical and financial success on their hands with Solo. Arguably, the anthology has the most working against it, between the director change (though we don't know what impact, if any, it'll have on the movie) and the fact that Ehrenreich is taking over a role that was previously synonymous with Ford. Han Solo is an iconic character and fans will be comparing Ehrenreich's performance to Ford's. Whether it holds up remains to be seen.

Still, with Solo: A Star Wars Story set to hit theaters in a little under two months, fans are eager to get a better look at the film. Thankfully, they'll be able to do just that soon enough.
