Andrew Garfield snooped on Justin Timberlake's role prep for The Social Network. Perhaps best known for his role as Peter Parker in the Amazing Spider-Man movies from Marc Webb, a role which he recently reprised in Marvel's Spider-Man: No Way: Home, a few of Garfield's more critically-acclaimed performances came in Martin Scorsese's Silence, Lin-Manuel Miranda's new musical tick, tick...BOOM!, and Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge, the latter of which earned him an Academy Award nomination in 2016.

One of Garfield's earliest breakthrough roles came in David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin's Facebook drama alongside the famed pop star and actor Justin Timberlake. Based on the book The Accidental Billionaires, The Social Network chronicles the founding of Facebook and the various lawsuits that followed. Garfield stars as Eduardo Saverin, a co-founder of the site who was pushed out of the business and sued Mark Zuckerberg. Timberlake stars as Sean Parker, the founder of Napster who got in on Facebook from the ground up and served as the site's first president.

During a recent sit down with his Social Network co-star Dakota Johnson for Vanity Fair, Garfield recalled an interesting story that happened on the set over 10 years ago. The actor was accidentally brought into Timberlake's trailer and promptly noticed his prep for the role of Sean Parker, which included a whiteboard filled with cue cards detailing the actor's internal choices. Instead of leaving right away, Garfield took some time to snoop. Read how he told the story below:

I was brought into his trailer accidentally and I was like, "This isn't my trailer." And I saw some of his homework, like a board with like cue cards and like some of his like internal choices and substitutions. I was like, oh I must leave and as I leave I must let my eyes linger for as long as possible as I leave because of course because it's like, it's just there. And thank God it wasn't anything bad, it was only kind of cool.

Though his career saw a bit of a resurgence last year with The Eyes of Tammy Fayetick, tick...BOOM!, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, Garfield was largely unknown to international audiences before making The Social Network in 2010. His expert handling of Sorkin's fiery dialogue in that film earned him a BAFTA and a Golden Globe nomination. Though he was snubbed at the Oscars, his role as Eduardo is commonly credited with catapulting his career to greater heights, as he was soon cast in The Amazing Spider-Man after.

Garfield is now fresh off a win at this past Golden Globes for tick, tick...BOOM! and is also nominated at the upcoming SAG awards. This means, in all likelihood, he will receive recognition at this year's Academy Awards as well. He was nominated before for Hacksaw Ridge but has never taken home Oscar gold. Perhaps he can steal a few more pointers from his Social Network co-star Justin Timberlake to help him reach that goal.
