The movie industry has never been more routine than is was in the 2010s, as the decade saw every studio trying to turn every possible property they owned in to a cinematic universe. And with all of the money going in to those projects, there were very few other movies being produced that would be considered as a risk. This meant that there was actually very little room for error.

However, of course the movie studios made a ton of mistakes in the 2010s, and they even managed to turn established characters facing off against each other in to box office bombs. But some of those mistakes were so bad that they actually made the movies enjoyable.

London Has Fallen (2016)

Gerard Butler in London Has Fallen

From countless bridges getting blown up to the kidnapping of the president, London Has Fallen is the most by-the-numbers '90s action movie ever made, only it comes 16 years after the decade ended. What makes it even funnier is the CGI, as each explosion looks like a free downloadable special effect that any amateur filmmaker could paste in to their movie. On top of that, the movie is about an attack on London, but still manages to make it about the U.S.

Suicide Squad (2016)

Jared Leto’s Joker lays surrounded by knives and weapons in Suicide Squad

Though there were a lot of actors considered to play Deadshot, when Will Smith finally landed the role, it had fans in a frenzy and massively hyped for the release of Suicide Squad.

But ironically, Smith ended up being the only good thing about the movie, as the super hero film was filled with ridiculous one liners and a try-hard soundtrack, not to mention the most divisive on-screen portrayal of the Joker. It raised so many questions, such as why is the Joker covered in tattoos, and why did he spend hours meticulously laying out his knives?

Batman vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice (2016)

Suicide Squad isn’t the only movie from the DC universe that had fans laughing. The audience’s fits of laughter surely wasn’t the intention of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, which is possibly the darkest superhero movie ever made. The big comedy moment comes when Superman screams his mother’s name, Martha, which is followed by the two heroes bonding over their mothers. The movie is full of moments like this, but there’s still a lot of positive things to remember it by, too.

The Counselor (2013)

Flop The Counselor

The fact that The Counselor was so bad was rather disappointing because, unlike other directors who made some of the worst movies of the decade, Ridley Scott is a cinematic auteur.

However, The Counselor is entertaining in another kind of way, as it has an all star cast including Javier Bardem, Michael Fassbender, and Cameron Diaz, and they all have wacky hairdos and dress sense. But the most bizarre part of the movie is when Diaz makes love on a car... with a car.

The Last Airbender (2010)

Avatar The Last Airbender Movie

Being based on the TV show Avatar: The Last Airbender, M. Night Shyamalan really did set out to make a movie that fans would love, but it ended up being extremely unfaithful to the source material. Not only that, but The Last Airbender is considered one of the worst Shyamalan movies due to the whole production; the editing, the characters, the acting, and especially the visual effects. It all comes off as a cheap summer blockbuster with an almost comedic overuse of exposition.

Fifty Shades Of Grey (2015)

Fifty Shades

Based on the novel that took the world by storm, Fifty Shades of Grey became a phenomenon, and even though general audiences and even fans of the books agreed the movie was bad, it didn’t stop it from being a giant box-office hit, as it made well over half a billion dollars worldwide. Being one of the worst on screen romances of the 2010s, the dialogue between Grey and Ana, and its daytime soap opera tier acting, is ironically the only thing that keeps people from turning it off.

Cop Out (2010)

There are loads of hilarious stories about the making of Cop Out, particularly that director Kevin Smith and Bruce Willis locked horns at every possible occasion, and that might be one of the reasons that led to the quality of the movie.

Smith is a fine director and is the creator of many hilarious comedy movies, but Cop Out failed as a comedy because Willis clearly didn’t care about the movie. Every scene he’s in he looks like he simply doesn’t want to be there and as if he’s genuinely in pain, which makes it highly entertaining to watch.

Terminator Genisys (2015)

No movie series timeline has been messed with more than the Terminator franchise, and Terminator Genisys not only confuses timelines more, but it messes with the core motives of the characters, too. As the movie sees the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger, which is one of the reasons the movie isn’t as bad as people say, it pits him against the new villain of the series, John Connor, who has been the series hero ever since Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

Sharknado (2013)

A man uses a chainsaw against a shark

Sharknado might be intentionally schlocky, as it’s literally marketed as a must-see for being so bad it’s good, so there’s no hiding that it’s a bad movie. But given that some of the actors in the movie, including Tara Reid, are clearly treating the material seriously and are seemingly giving what they think are award-winning performances, it makes Sharknado that much better/worse.

Jupiter Ascending (2015)

Balem talking in Jupiter Ascending

Jupiter Ascending is mostly remembered for Eddie Redmayne’s performance as the movie’s antagonist, Balem, who puts on an extraordinarily strange and throaty vernacular. Redmayne is one of the finest actors of the 2010s, but every actor has a bad day at the office, and Jupiter Ascending was Redmayne’s bad day.

The actor put on the voice because the character had his larynx pulled out by a wolf man, and if that doesn’t say it all then what does? On top of that, the flare of the movie’s extravagant costume design and set design make the sci-fi drama one of the most bemusing movies of the 21st century.
