A humorous Saturday Night Live backstage video sees Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Benedict Cumberbatch dancing before his hosting introduction. The Doctor Strange sequel hit theaters this weekend, which brought audiences out in droves to see the latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film sees Cumberbatch's Strange protecting Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez from an unknown evil set on obtaining her power.

To promote Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Cumberbatch took up hosting duties for the newest episode of Saturday Night Live. SNL has been running since 1975, bringing in guest hosts each week who perform comedy sketches with the show's roster of talented performers. This week's episode marked Cumberbatch's second appearance as host after previously taking on the duties to promote the first Doctor Strange during its opening weekend in 2016.

A funny backstage SNL video, shared on Twitter by Cumberbatch Videos, sees the actor dancing before his introduction. As the band plays the show's theme song along with the opening credits that announce each cast member, the video sees Cumberbatch dancing to the music as he readies himself at the stage door. The actor seems like he's just getting in the groove of things or even shaking out nerves, which he does right up until his name is called, prompting him to compose himself before taking the stage. With Mother's Day and the recent news of the Supreme Court's leaked Roe v. Wade draft, SNL had no shortage of material. However, as with any episode of SNL, some sketches landed better than others. For example, Cumberbatch seemingly poked fun at Sam Elliot in the "Blue Bunny" focus-group skit, where the actor looked to be doing an impression of Elliot, who recently made harsh comments regarding Cumberbatch's Oscar-nominated film The Power of the Dog. And while other sketches, like "Chuck E. Cheese" and "The Understudy," landed, some like "Chain Gang" fell short. Still, Cumberbatch's second time hosting was a funny, well-received episode of the show.

Audiences can currently see Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which looks to close out its opening weekend with at least $185 million at the domestic box office. While Cumberbatch is likely to return to the MCU, recently saying he would love to play the character for another decade, his next project sees him playing the title role in Wes Anderson's The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. As for fans of Cumberbatch's Saturday Night Live hosting gigs, hopefully, it won't take a third Doctor Strange movie to bring him back.
