New tactical VR arena shooter Snapshot VR will enter Early Access for Windows PC on July 28, and developer Giant Scam Industries is celebrating with a brand new developer diary that helped outline what consumers can expect from the virtual reality concept. Giant Scam Industries - beyond having one of the most suspicious names in the games industry - is best known for Chop It, a VR title that has performed admirably on Steam with positive reviews.

Virtual reality gaming has been in a tricky spot for most of its life cycle, first finding difficulty with high cost as a barrier of entry and then again running into stumbling blocks because of the small number of consumers who have adopted the technology. Without a high density market, it has been difficult to lure major game developers and publishers into the VR space, though that doesn't mean quality games aren't getting created there anyways - titles like Beat Saber and Half-Life: Alyx have been standouts, but many indie studios are exploring VR and creating some genuinely compelling games.

That's certainly the hope with Snapshot VR, which will be released on PC via Viveport on July 28 in Early Access. The game will blend arena shooter inspiration with a futuristic take on the sport of paintball, and its not a surprise to see Giant Scam Industries supporting the niche hobby. As the developer diary explains, the team has already tested the game against perhaps its staunchest critics, as paintball players at a World Cup event tested it and confirmed to the team that the title was a "heavily paintball inspired" game. The video showcases a lot of the personality at Giant Scam Industries and also helps outline why the team has chosen the game's release date.

Jesse and Tanner also were vocal about how the community has influenced Snapshot VR's development, highlighting the fact that the game is very different today thanks to feedback from those who have helped Giant Scam Industries build out the ambitious paintball shooter. A focus on short, intense matches should help differentiate the game from competitors in the battle royale multiplayer sector.

Those looking to try out frenetic, tactical multiplayer shooter gameplay - and are equipped to do so in virtual reality - can check out Snapshot VR on July 28. Those with Vivport Infinity memberships can play for free at launch, and there is additional content and features planned for Snapshot VR to be released throughout the game's Early Access.
