The Snapchat Pixy drone aims to be one of 2022's cutest gadgets, and if you're interested in getting one for yourself, Snap's made it incredibly easy to find where you can buy it. Back in 2016, Snapchat Inc. rebranded itself to Snap Inc. Along with the name change, Snap announced it wanted to focus more on being a 'camera company.' It achieves that through the software side with Snapchat, and also in 2016, Snap expanded into the hardware niche with its Spectacles smart glasses. And Spectacles are still available today. You can buy them from the official Spectacles website, pair them with your Snapchat app, and unlock a new perspective for sharing photos/videos with your Snapchat friends.
That's the same general goal behind the Snapchat Pixy drone. Instead of having cameras you wear on your face, the Pixy drone lets you record yourself from wherever you want to fly it. Just hold the Pixy drone in your hand, select the recording mode you want, and it takes off into the air and starts recording. It's not nearly as complicated as drones like the DJI Mavic 3 and DJI Mini 2. But it's not supposed to be. If you want a simple drone that'll take your Snaps to the next level, Pixy is in a league of its own.
Adding to that notion is how you buy the Pixy drone. Unlike other popular drones, the Snapchat Pixy drone isn't available at Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, or other third-party retailers. If you're wondering where to buy the Pixy drone, the only place currently selling it is Snap's own website. From your phone/tablet/computer, open your web browser and visit the Pixy website. Select the yellow 'Shop Now' button, choose the configuration you want to buy, add it to your cart, and check out. The Pixy website supports PayPal, Apple Pay, Shop Pay, and most credit/debit cards. Some folks may find it annoying that you can't get the Pixy drone from a preferred online or physical retailer, but at least for the time being, the Pixy website is the one and only place to purchase one.
The Snapchat Pixy Drone Starts At $229
If that's fine with you, there's one more thing to consider before buying the Pixy drone — and that's how much it costs. The Pixy website heavily urges shoppers to spend $249.99 for the Pixy Flight Pack. The Flight Pack includes the Pixy drone, a USB 3.0 charging cable, a bumper & carrying strap, two rechargeable batteries, and a dual battery charger. But that's not the only model available. You can also buy the 'normal' Pixy config for $229.99. The only differences are that you get one battery instead of two, and the dual battery charger is not included.
Whichever version you decide to buy, just be aware that it may be a while before you get your hands on the Snapchat Pixy drone. At the time of publication, the Pixy website says shipments aren't expected to go out until 15-16 weeks after making your purchase. Shipping times could have been even longer if Snap had also pushed the Pixy drone to third-party vendors, so with that in mind, the limited availability of the Pixy website does make sense. You may not have many options for where you buy the Snapchat Pixy drone, but if you're OK buying directly from Snap, the process is pretty simple. Add the drone to your cart, make your payment, and sit back and wait for it to be delivered.
