Our Story brings Snaps from different users across Snapchat together. A feature Snapchatters will likely already be familiar with is My Story and Snaps uploaded to My Story expire after twenty-four hours. My Story is a fun and creative way to tell a story of how a Snapchatter's day unfolded. Of course, all the Snapchat features, filters, and stickers are available when creating these Snaps, making them engaging and fun to watch. Our Story is an extension of that feature.

Apps like TikTok have given Snapchat a run for their money since the beginning of 2020, due to the COVID-19 constraints and stay-at-home orders. However, Snapchat was not going to be left behind and has since added a new feature that allows users to add music to their Snaps. The feature works in a similar way to how TikTok works, and in light of TikTok's threatened ban by the Trump administration, Snapchat may just gain a new edge in the market.

Our Story merges different My Stories from selected users to create a broad view of an event or place. Snapchat selects Snaps sent in from users and features them in its Our Story. The Snaps are categorized depending on what they are about. For example, if there's a festival, Our Story will portray the event from different points of view of the relevant selected Snaps. The Snaps submitted to Our Story may appear in Stories, Snap Map, or on third-party platforms. In 2018, Snapchat launched Curated Our Stories that featured partnerships with major brands, such as  Cosmopolitan, CNN, and Lad Bible, to name a few. The partners are able to curate content by sifting through the submissions to Our Story, create slideshows, and generate revenue from ads run in the Our Stories they curate.

The difference between Snaps submitted to Our Story and My Story is that the Snaps in Our Story have varying time frames that they can be viewed, unlike the Snaps in My Story that expire after twenty-four hours. Because the system monitoring the Snaps submitted to Our Story is automated, users can never know if their Snaps will appear in Our Story or when they will appear. To submit a Snap to Our Story, create a Snap, select Our Story (at the top of the Send To screen), and tap on the blue arrow to submit. When submitting Snaps to Our Story it is always important to remember that you are sharing content with a public platform and that the Snap may appear elsewhere, other than on Snapchat. To delete or save a Snap from Our Story, tap on the Settings icon in the profile, tap on Our Story Snaps, then on the download arrow to save the Snap in Memories or the delete icon to delete the Snap.

Snapchat went a step further to make Our Story more appealing to college students by creating Campus Stories for select campuses. However, to post to Campus Stories, users will need to enable location services and be on campus at the time, or within the previous twenty-four hours. Additionally, users who Snap with spectacles on are able to share their Snaps to Best of Spectacles. Snapchat has attempted to diversify the Our Story feature to appeal to all, based on location, event, or activity. Overall, by submitting their Snaps to Our Story, Snapchat users can become a part of something greater than themselves.
