Snapchat has seemingly endless filters to mess around with — but only if you know where to search for and find them. Messaging/Snapping people on Snapchat can be as simple or complicated as you'd like. Want to send a simple text message? You can do that. Want to capture a quick photo and send it to a friend without any editing? Snapchat lets you do that, too. But if you want to take your Snaps to the next level, that's where Snapchat's filters come into play.
Also referred to as 'Lenses', Snapchat filters have come a long way since their introduction in 2015. Some of the first Snapchat filters transformed you into a cyborg, added fun heart eyes on top of your selfies, and let you 'throw up' a stream of rainbows. Today, there are Snapchat filters that can turn you invisible, make you bald, and give you a luscious flowing beard. Some filters are amazing, others are just OK, and you'll never run out of new ones to try.
While these filters are undoubtedly fun to use, the first step in accessing them is knowing how to search for Snapchat filters. There are a couple of ways to do this, the first of which makes filters accessible right from Snapchat's camera page. Immediately after opening Snapchat, tap the smiley face icon to the right of the camera capture button. This displays a scrolling list of the current hottest/most popular filters on the app. Swipe left and right to scroll through the options, stop on the filter you want to use, and that's all there is to it.
Other Ways To Search For Snapchat Filters
The above method works great if you just want to browse through a bunch of filters at once. But what if you want to search for a very specific Snapchat filter? From the camera page in Snapchat, tap the search icon in the top left corner. Once the search page appears, start typing in the filter you're looking for. For example, if you start typing in 'invisible,' you'll see the viral Invisible filter from Snapchat. Filters are displayed under the 'Lenses' section — including the filter's name, who created it, and a small icon preview of what it looks like.
While the main search tool is great, it searches for everything on Snapchat — including contacts, shows, games, etc. If you only want to search for filters, there is another search page that lets you do that. On the camera page, tap the smiley face icon to open the filters screen. Instead of swiping through the filters that appear, tap the 'Explore' button at the bottom right of the screen. This takes you to a search page dedicated exclusively to Snapchat filters. You can see recommended filters for you, trending filters, music filters, and tap the Search bar at the top of the screen to search for specific ones. Keep these tips in mind, and you'll be searching for Snapchat filters like it's no problem at all.
