Snapchat lenses are a popular option for users of the smartphone app, and now the company has launched two new ones that make it super easy to add or remove a beard. These are only the latest examples of how Snapchat users can customize their experience, with the company's stockpile of lenses always on the rise, as well as the branching out into other areas, including Snap games.

Whether it is lenses on Snapchat, filters on Instagram, or songs on TikTok, the ability to customize images and videos has proven immensely popular with social media-based services and their users. In Snapchat’s case, lenses were added to the app back in 2015 as a means for users to find new ways to express themselves. Since then, the selection of Snapchat lenses has grown considerably, with many designed by the company’s in-house team, and just as many contributed by the wider Snapchat community, through the company’s Lens Studio.

Snap has now launched two new lenses for users to try, the Beard Lens and the Beard Removal Lens. Neither of which should need too much explanation as the names do pretty much explain everything. For example, the Beard Lens allows the user to instantly add a beard to their image to see how they look with facial hair, while the Beard Removal Lens can just as quickly remove a beard. With Father’s Day 2020 taking place this Sunday, the timing of these beard-themed lenses is not a coincidence. Below is a demonstration of how the new lenses work by Snapchat's Director of Product, Jack Brody.

How To Find & Use Snapchat’s New Beard Lenses

Getting started with either of the new lenses is fairly easy to do and the process will likely already be very familiar to many Snapchat users. Whether it is the new beard lenses or any other main Snapchat lens, simply open up the app and tap on the smiley face icon besides the main Snap button. This will launch a carousel containing the popular Snapchat lenses, including both Beard and Beard Removal. Once on the right lens, simply tap the icon to add or remove the beard, before hitting the main (circle) button to capture the Snap.

Father’s Day aside, the last few months, along with the working from home situation brought on by the COVID-19 outbreak, has likely resulted in many playing with their facial hair look. These new Snapchat lenses are another way app users can achieve the same results, without actually having to make the physical facial hair changes. Not forgetting, users can also use the smartphone app to send the Snaps to friends to see what they think of the new with (or without) a beard look.
