The trailer for Smiley Face Killers is officially released online. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, several high-profile films have been pushed back to 2021, leaving multiple voids on the movie release calendar. This has presented multiple opportunities for smaller titles to leave a mark, providing viewers with something new to watch. One such movie looking to make a splash this year is Smiley Face Killers, which takes inspiration from a theory about a series of killings. The film comes out in December on Digital and on-demand, and now viewers can get a taste of what to expect.

As an exclusive to Screen Rant, Lionsgate shared the Smiley Face Killers trailer and poster. Check out both in the space below.

The marketing materials smartly highlight Bret Easton Ellis' involvement, using the American Psycho connection as a hook for casual audiences. Ellis, author of the American Psycho novel, wrote the Smiley Face Killers screenplay and it'll be interesting to see how he brings this story to life. American Psycho was noteworthy for combining psychological horror with satirical elements (primarily poking fun at yuppie culture), so hopefully Smiley Face Killers has a similar combination. There's definitely the potential here for a creepy story that serves up genre thrills. It seems like the type of movie that would do well for Halloween, but it should be able to find an audience in early December.
