The first trailer is out for Paramount's horror-thriller, Smile, and here is everything we know about the creepy-looking film. The Sosie Bacon-led movie follows a doctor who must face a new supernatural threat that makes all its victims do one thing: smile. While the movie may not have generated a huge amount of buzz in an already packed late summer release schedule, there is a lot to be excited about with Smile.

Smile is an upcoming 2022 horror movie starring Sosie Bacon, Jessie T. Usher, Kal Penn, and more. The film follows Dr. Rose Cotter (Bacon), who must solve the mystery of a supernatural threat after a traumatic interaction with one of her patients. Smile is directed and written by Parker Finn in his directorial debut, and the movie is based on his short film Laura Hasn't Slept. Although the first trailer was just released, viewers don't have much time to speculate on the film's mysteries, as Smile will be in theaters very soon.

Smile's 40-second teaser debuted before Top Gun: Maverick in theatres and kept the details of its terrifying-looking story incredibly vague. However, now that Smile's first trailer is officially out, there is a lot more knowledge regarding the film's excellent cast, scary story, and more. Here is everything we know about Paramount's new horror film, Smile.

Smile Cast

Smile's cast may not be full of A-listers, but it still packs some serious talent. The film stars Mare of Easttown's Sosie Bacon as Dr. Rose Cotter, the doctor trying to stop the mischievous entity. The rest of Smile's cast is also confirmed, but none of their characters have been named by the production yet, and very few details are known about their role in the story. Rob Morgan, who portrayed Turk in the MCU's Netflix shows, plays a prisoner that has seen the supernatural entity but miraculously survived. Jessie T. Usher, best known for playing A-Train in The Boys, can be seen in the trailer, but details about his role are slim to none at present. Smile also features actors such as Kal Penn, Judy Reyes, and Caitlin Stasey, many of whom are known for roles in incredibly popular recent TV shows.

After one of Dr. Cotter's patients sees a paranormal entity, she develops a massive smile and lunges headfirst into a traumatic, violent outburst. While coping with the loss of her patient, Cotter starts to realize other similar cases are occurring, leading her to investigate the incidents. Cotter eventually determines that these patients develop their freaky smiles a few days after seeing the entity, quickly realizing that her pursuit of the case is putting her life in danger. Soon, she finds a man who has encountered the spirit, but for some reason, he is still alive, giving Cotter hope she can take the monster down. While Smile's monster works similarly to The Ring/Ringu's Samara Morgan, Smile is sure to put a unique twist on its grinning ghoul.
