In the Mushroom Kingdom, there's one bad boy that stands above all the rest but has never been a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This character is the one and only Waluigi, and it may finally be time for the parallel of a parallel to join the hit Nintendo fighting game.

At this point, Waluigi is the only main cast Mario character that hasn't been added to the Super Smash Bros. roster. Even Piranha Plant has managed to get there before Waluigi, which just seems insulting. For a long time now, there have been some unwritten rules keeping Waluigi from joining Smash's roster, but it's looking as though that's beginning to change. Smash fans have held it as a belief that characters who appear in the game as assist trophies or Spirits wouldn't be able to join the main roster, but through two fighters in the second Fighter's Pass for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, both rules have been broken.

The first character released as part of the second Fighter's Pass was Min Min from the fighting game Arms. This caught many fans be surprise, as Min Min was already a Spirit in the game. When the second Fighter's Pass was announced, Nintendo simply revealed that the first character released would be from Arms. This was six months ahead of Min Min's actual announcement. There are a number of Arms characters that would've been suitable additions to the Super Smash Bros. roster, but Nintendo went with a character that was already a Spirit. It's hard to tell if Nintendo did this purposely or just coincidentally, but it's something worth noting nonetheless.

Smash Bros. Unwritten Rules Have Been Broken

Another unwritten rule was broken during the second character reveal for Super Smash Bros.second Fighter's Pass. This has nothing to do with Steve from Minecraft, but rather the new Mii skins that were introduced with this round of DLC content. Players will soon be able to dress their Mii Brawlers up as Bomberman, from the hit series of the same name. This isn't just a costume for a Mii character to wear, but a full on skin, similar to the Mii skins for Sans from Undertale or Cuphead. Normally, Mii skins aren't worth creating conspiracy theories, but this one is different. Bomberman is already an assist trophy. So the addition of a Bomberman is technically an assist trophy on the main roster. There have been several occasions where assist trophies eventually made it onto the Smash roster, like Little Mac or Dark Samus, but this would be the first time a character had appeared in the same game as their assist trophy

As was the case with Min Min, it's difficult to tell if Bomberman's inclusion as an assist trophy is purposeful or coincidental on Nintendo's part, but the two happening within the same year is very notable. A precedent has been set for this second, and likely final, wave of DLC characters, which should open the flood gates to the possibilities of any character making their way onto the Smash roster. While this doesn't directly guarantee Waluigi will make the main roster, it means Nintendo is officially out of excuses for why this fan favorite can't make it on the the Smash Bros roster. Fan outcry has been loud and consistent when it comes to getting Waluigi into Super Smash Bros and now it's unavoidable.

With four characters left to be announced in Smash's second Fighter's Pass, the chances of Waluigi making the game seem better than ever. There's a chance two of the characters have already leaked, but that would still leave plenty of room for Waluigi. There's no telling when fans might get a better idea of who the next DLC characters are, so fans will just have to wait and see after Steve is added to Super Smash Bros Ultimate on October 14th.
