Nintendo has responded to a fan letter about the potential inclusion of Ubisoft mascot Rayman in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a DLC fighter. The fighting game already has an expansive roster of characters, with heroes and villains from various video game franchises present. Rayman is one of the most notable absences from the title, although recent rumors have suggested that the limbless protagonist could be coming in the near future. One past leak linked Rayman to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate alongside the likes of Doomguy from Doom and Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden – although nothing has come of that predicition with only two DLC fighters remaining.

It is not just fans who want to see popular characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Various developers have also expressed interest in bringing figures from their own franchises to the fight title, including Microsoft's Master Chief from the Halo series. Another recent example is Supergiant Games, the studio behind the hit indie roguelike Hades, stating that it would not be opposed to Zagreus joining the roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Nintendo is not a company that is traditionally known for interacting with fans or responding to questions on social media. That means that news often comes as a surprise to players, especially when it comes to things like new fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. One fan of the game managed to actually get a response from Nintendo, though, by sending them a letter all the way from New Zealand. The note from CallMeKorora was sent in December 2020, and included a suggestion that Rayman should be added to the roster as a DLC character. Ashley Miller from Nintendo of America responded, saying that she's "more than happy to send your suggestion for the game to other departments here at Nintendo so they too can see your suggestion!” Unfortunately, there was no hint if Rayman will come to the game in the future.

The most recent addition to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are a series of Spirits from Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. Fury Bowser, Giga Cat Mario, and a pack of Kittens became available last week on the Spirit Board. Like other Spirits in the game, the characters are represented in matches with already available characters. In this case, Bowser, a cat-suited Mii Brawler, and Kirby took on the roles of the three new Spirit additions.

While the letter from Nintendo does not give any actual details about whether Rayman will ever come to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it is still a nice touch for the company to send a reply. But others shouldn't write expecting to receive any insider information or secret reveal, as those sort of announcements will only ever come from official public channels at the appropriate time.
