There are more DLC characters coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the fans in Japan want Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series more than anyone, based on a recent poll. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the biggest crossover fighting game of all time and it's expected to receive six more characters in the second Fighters Pass.

The most recent character revealed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was another Fire Emblem representative, with Byleth being the last character in the first Fighters Pass. The majority of the DLC fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate have been third-party characters, which means that fans are expecting the same from the next Fighters Pass. Sora from Kingdom Hearts has been a popular choice among fans for years, as he is already part of one of the biggest crossovers in gaming (that being Final Fantasy and Disney movies).

Sora is the most popular choice for a DLC character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in Japan, at least according to a poll conducted by Inside Games (via Nintendo Soup). The poll received over 3000 responses and Sora was in the lead with 290 votes. Dante from the Devil May Cry series was in second place with 91 votes and the Hunter from Monster Hunter was in third place 80 votes. Geno from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars was in the last place with 26 votes.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Sora Gummi Phone

Kingdom Hearts fans have wanted Sora in the Super Smash Bros. series for a long time. There are already two Square Enix representatives in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the form of Cloud from Final Fantasy VII and Hero from the Dragon Quest series, but the Kingdom Hearts franchise is owned by Disney. There have been rumors that Disney Japan stopped Sora from appearing in Super Smash Bros.but it's unclear if they are true or if the discussion happened before the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The fact that there aren't any Kingdom Hearts games on the Nintendo Switch might be holding back Sora's appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but that could change in the future. Almost all of the Kingdom Hearts games were recently released on Xbox One, so there's no reason why they couldn't come to the Switch as well. If that happens, then Sora's chances of making it into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will drastically increase.
