Much of the gaming world has weighed in on the controversial launch of the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 and now Super Smash Bros creator Masahiro Sakurai has added his thoughts to the conversation. One topic Sakurai touched on was CD Projekt Red's decision to offer full refunds for their game; he characterized the gesture as "deeply moving." Cyberpunk 2077 has been out for over a month, but there are still many issues from its debut that have yet to be addressed.

After a tumultuous and widely publicized launch, CD Projekt Red has spent much of the time since then working damage control for Cyberpunk 2077. The game was seemingly released unfinished, which was made all the worse by the record breaking number of copies sold, and the studio has been scrambling to patch the game as quickly as possible. While it is working on these fixes, CD Projekt Red has also offered full refunds to dissatisfied gamers and many have taken advantage of the offer.

One individual who kept Cyberpunk 2077 was Japanese game creator Masahiro Sakurai. According to a report by Siliconera, Sakurai played the game on both PC and PS4 Pro and put his thoughts to print in his most recent Famitsu column. The game creator seemed to have a better experience on PS4 Pro, which he claimed ran mostly at 30 frames per second. Sakurai did encounter some bugs when he played Cyberpunk 2077 on PC, but it was not enough to dissuade him from praising the title. He characterized Cyberpunk 2077 as a "dream game" and then mused on the amount of work that must have gone into making it.

The reaction to Sakurai's experience was seemingly split. Some accused the developer of looking past certain flaws because of his own experience as a game designer while others called the Smash Bros creator's comments refreshing and respectful. In the end, however, many commenters simply shared their own experiences with the game and some of the conversations became rather heated.

There may be a little truth in all the perspectives on Sakurai's opinion of Cyberpunk 2077. While his comments are respectful, one could reasonably think he may have given some faulty elements a pass because of everything else the game does well. That said, it sounds like Sakurai's experience was a pretty smooth one. Cyberpunk 2077 still has many issues that need to be resolved, but the general consensus in the gaming community seems to be a positive one that is reflected in the Super Smash Bros creator's comments.
