In the same year that the Avengers made their live-action debut, there was another group of iconic characters banding together to save the day. Rise of the Guardians is an animated adventure that brought together folklore heroes like Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy to battle the evil boogeyman, Pitch Black.

It is a lot of fun seeing these fantasy characters that kids grew up with joining forces on the big screen. And like the Avengers, some of these heroes were more flawed than others. Some of the characters in Rise of the Guardians make wise decisions while others have questionable intelligence.

Sophie

Playing with eggs in Easter land

It might feel unfair to put Sophie at the bottom of this list since she is just a toddler and is as intelligent as can be expected at her age, but those are the rules. She is the young sister of Jamie and is basically just there to smile, have fun and be cute.

When Sophie wanders into her brother's room to find a sleeping Easter bunny, it doesn't phase her in the slightest. Nor does the magic portal that opens and takes her to the land of Easter where she continues her oblivious adventure.

Jamie

Jack Frost telling Jamie he is a Guardian

Jamie is the main human character in the story and a young boy who seems to be a firm believer in the magic of the Guardians. However, for someone who is so determined to get his friends to believe in this stuff as well, Jamie's faith is a little shaky.

After the kids fail to find any eggs on Easter, Jamie starts to have doubts that these magical beings are real despite the fact that he saw them all in his bedroom the previous night. And after he helps the Guardians defeat Pitch, Jamie worries that he'll forget all about them eventually. How much proof does this kid need?

Bunny

Jack Frost arguing with Bunny

Bunny is the tough and somewhat grumpy Australian Easter bunny and a key member of the Guardians. Though he takes his position on the team very seriously, his combative nature with the others often blinds him to the more serious problems around him.

When North insists Pitch has returned, Bunny refuses to even acknowledge it as a possibility for no real reason. He is the most vocal voice against allowing Jack on the team and refuses to listen to him when Jack tries to explain his actions. Bunny's stubborn nature makes him seem like he is constantly being proven wrong.

Jack Frost

Jack Frost in Rise of the Guardians

Jack Frost is the newest member of the Guardians, chosen by the Man in the Moon to help the others defeat Pitch. However, Jack is a bit of a wild card choice as some of the other Guardians see him as reckless, which is hard to argue with.

Jack tends to jump into any situation without really giving it too much thought and that causes a lot of problems for the team. His pursuit of Pitch leads to Sandy's apparent death and he later gets Baby Tooth captured with his selfish behavior. Jack is also very gullible, trusting Pitch to keep his word once Jack hands over his magic staff. But in the end, Jack is the one to come up with a plan to save the day.

Baby Tooth

small tooth fairy

Baby Tooth is another very young character but she has a lot more awareness than Sophie. Baby Tooth is one of the young fairies who are part of Tooth's team. When Pitch attacks Tooth's palace, Baby Tooth is the only one who manages to escape the ordeal.

Not only is it impressive that she avoided being captured by Pitch, but she is also very helpful to the rest of the team. When Jack decides to go after Pitch on his own, Baby Tooth attempts to be the voice of reason and lets him know that it is obviously a bad idea.

Tooth

Isla Fisher's character in Rise of the Guardians

Tooth is one of the more passionate members of the team when it comes to her duty to the children. She takes genuine pride and joy in her job and it makes her feel like one of the authority figures on the team. When the others get worked up or distracted, Tooth is the one to calm them down and keep them on track.

When the team has to go around collecting all the children's teeth, Tooth reminds them that they are meant to leave gifts as well. She can sometimes get carried away with herself, similar to the others, but she always keeps a level head.

Sandy

Sandman returns from the dead to fight Pitch

Though he doesn't speak at all, Sandy the Sandman is perhaps the most powerful of the Guardians. However, given his silent demeanor, the other Guardians sometimes overlook him when he is offering the best piece of advice.

Sandy tends to look at the bigger picture and its possibilities whereas the others can be a little short-sighted. He communicates through sand images, which often get the point across faster and more efficiently than anybody else's attempts.

Pitch

Jude Law

It's always fun when the villain in a movie is one of the most intelligent characters and thus poses a real threat to the heroes. That is certainly the case with Pitch, the boogeyman who wants to haunt the dreams of all the children in the world.

Despite being outnumbered by the Guardians, Pitch is always one step ahead of the heroes. He concocts a very clever plan and manages to use the greatest strengths of the Guardians against them. As his play gradually starts to work, the influence of the Guardians fades while his increases. Like most villains, Pitch's arrogance is his downfall, but he comes very close to succeeding.

North

Alec Baldwin as North

North is one of the toughest versions of Santa Claus in any movie. As the most iconic of the Guardians, it makes sense that he sort of falls into the role of their leader. While that position might not be official, North feels like the one to follow because he always seems to have a plan.

While the others are caught off-guard by Pitch's return, North is already ready with their next move. His confidence and leadership help the Guardians get out of a lot of sticky situations and his various Christmas gadgets often come in handy as well.
