A major player in the Superman mythology is and always will be Lois Lane, the star reporter of Daily Planet and the ultimate love for Clark Kent. Smallville, which is one of the most popular Superman adaptations, had Erica Durance star as Lois for 6 seasons starting in the fourth year. For many, her interpretation of the iconic reporter is one of the best portrayals of Lois in all of media. Durance even reprised her Lois in the Arrowverse crossover, Crisis on Infinite Earths, alongside Tom Welling. Her chemistry with Welling is what made their Lois and Clark one of the strongest live-action depictions.

Throughout her 6-year run, there were a lot of incredible arcs for Lois that have become part of her legacy. However, there were certainly moments when Lois was at her worst, just like with any other fictional character. As brilliant as she is, even Lois can fall every once in a while.

Felt Bad For Lois: When Lana Entered The Room

Lana looking confused in Smallville

Season 8 is when the writers finally began exploring the next chapter in Lois and Clark's relationship as they were moving away from the sibling-like energy. While it took a good while for the two to finally get together, the journey was a long one. Clark had made it clear that he was growing feelings for her and it took until Chloe and Jimmy's wedding for her to realize that she felt the same.

However, as they were so close to kissing each other, Lana Lang, Clark's ex-girlfriend, crashes the event to congratulate Chloe. Because Clark was the way he was, he suddenly lost all focus on Lois and distracted by Lana.

Hated Lois: Falling For The Fake Blur

The ninth season was a challenging one for Lois and Clark as a couple. At one point, General Zod had begun posing as The Blur and was now calling Lois, pretending to be the guardian angel. Despite being advised by Clark to not take any more calls from "The Blur", Lois was just too stubborn.

Even if they were at odds with one another, Lois should have listened to Clark and not gotten too swept up with her Blur fixation. Thankfully, she did figure it out, but almost too late, as she could have been killed by Zod if Clark hadn't been there.

Felt Bad For Lois: Being On Red Kryptonite

No matter if it's in animation or live-action, all kinds of Kryptonite are simply bad for everyone, including Superman.

In the Smallville universe, Red Kryptonite was always a disaster for anyone who fell under its effects. In the sixth season, Lois temporarily gets affected by it when she uses a lipstick that is, literally, made out of Red Kryptonite. No one should ever have to be under the effects of Red Kryptonite, especially through lipstick.

Hated Lois: Crashing A Wedding Dinner

On the subject of Red Kryptonite, while Lois and Clark (now also under its effect) were having a lot of fun, they both have a massive terrible moment together. Even if Lex and Lana was a controversial couple, Smallville insisted on getting them married in season 6.

But not even they deserved the Red Kryptonite-storm that was Lois and Clark as they crashed their wedding dinner. Not only was it painful to see Lois suddenly be a prop for Clark while he verbally attacked Lana and Lex, but it was also just terrible to see their first hook-up being through Red Kryptonite.

Felt Bad For Lois: Being Taken Over By Isis

Erica Durance as Lois Lane in Smallville

After Lois finds out that Clark and The Blur are the same person, a trip to Egypt became a big problem for her in later episodes.

She accidentally gets the amulet of Isis, and when she's back in Metropolis, she ends up being possessed by Isis' spirit. What followed was Isis being close to bring hell upon Earth.

Hated Lois: Taking Too Long To Tell Clark That She Knows

Despite it being a good thing that Lois finally found out Clark's secret, she did the completely wrong thing at the start of season 10. Rather than just tell him and finally get back together with him, Lois withholds the information.

Even if she probably wanted Clark to be the one to tell her, at this point in the show it was just unnecessary. It became another thing to keep them apart until Clark finally told her episodes later.

Felt Bad For Lois: Finding Her Mom's Tapes

Lois' family dynamic gets explored in the final season, and it came with a very cool cameo from another Lois Lane actress. In the 8th episode, Lois finds several videotapes with messages from her mom Ella, played by Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman's Teri Hatcher.

This was back when she was still sick during Lois and Lucy's childhood. Seeing Lois watching those tapes all by herself as tears run down her eyes, it was a moment that would never be forgotten.

Hated Lois: Invading Clark's Privacy

Smallville Season 4 Cast

The beginning of Lois and Clark's relationship was heated, to say the least, when she first showed up in the fourth season. They were constantly arguing and bickering, which became a weird but big foreshadowing of their future as a romantic couple. Lois ends up staying with the Kents, because Jonathan and Martha are always generous.

However, Lois' ability to show gratitude is flawed, because what guest would actually go into a bathroom while someone who actually lives there is in the shower? Clark's discomfort was more than understandable.

Felt Bad For Lois: Having Her Wedding Ruined

The 2-hour series finale finally saw Lois and Clark walk down the aisle after Lois agreed to still marry him. However, because it's a wedding that happens to be in a DC Universe-based series, something had to go terribly wrong.

A Darkseid-possessed Oliver tries to remove Clark's powers for good with Gold Kryptonite, and thankfully, he is busted. But it was still a terrible moment for them both, especially for Lois who had finally allowed herself to pursue happiness with Clark.

Hated Lois: Pulling A Gun On Tess

Tess Mercer looking thoughtful on Smallville

One of the characters Lois had a conflict with over and over again in seasons 8 and 9 were Tess Mercer when she was still very much the antagonist. But by the final season, Tess had become a member of the team, she was the new Watchtower. During an investigation to the Phantom Zone, Tess had been instructed by Clark to destroy the portal if he and Oliver weren't back after a specific set time.

Lois, who didn't know that until Tess was about to follow Clark's order, argues with her once more. But it's when she pulls an actual gun on Tess that Lois was at her worst. No matter how much they disagree, Lois should have been at a point with Tess where she wouldn't aim a gun at her when all she was trying to do was follow Clark's orders.
