Erica Durance, who played Lois Lane on Smallville, reveals which props she kept from the set. Smallville premiered on The CW over 20 years ago and was the longest-running series on the network until Supernatural surpassed the record with their eleventh season. Smallville follows a young Clark Kent (Tom Welling) as he learns to navigate his newfound abilities and the woes of high school relationships. The series broke ground and started a new wave of superhero content for The CW that still proves successful today.

Durance first appeared as Daily Planet reporter and Clark Kent’s love interest, Lois Lane, in Smallville season 4, episode 1, “Crusade,” and continued to play the character for seven seasons until the series finale in 2011. Her interpretation of the popular character was well received by fans, and Welling's Clark Kent is one of the more popular renditions of the hero in the 21st century. Recently, Durance and Welling made a cameo in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event on The CW as their Smallville counterparts.

In an exclusive interview with The List, Durance revealed what she kept from the Smallville set. Durance said she'll never forget her time during the seven seasons on the show and that character of Lois Lane will always stay with her. Out of the items she mentioned, one of the most notable was the character's on-screen wardrobe. Durance said that after 10 years and two children, she can't necessarily fit the items anymore, but they are tucked away in the back of her closet. She also revealed that she kept Lois Lane's name tag from the Daily Planet as well as the coffee cup the character was seen drinking out of multiple times and other items from her desk. Many of the items are now on Durance's own desk.

Durance goes on to say that the items continue to inspire her in her work today. The role has definitely stayed with the actress as her appearance in the massive DC crossover event suggests. In fact, many actors from multiple DC shows appeared in the multi-episode Crisis on Infinite Earths event, including Ezra Miller as Barry Allen and Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar. Durance and Welling appear for a brief moment in the second episode of the event.

With multiple DC shows currently on air across The CW and HBO Max, the opportunities for Durance to reappear as the reporter are still viable. Currently playing Lois Lane on Superman and Lois is Bitsie Tulloch of Grim notoriety. After Smallville, Durance had a recurring role on Supergirl, keeping on good terms with the DC family. Ten years after the series finale of Smallville, Durance still uses her experience on the show to aid her in her career today.
