Despite the popularity of both series, developer Sucker Punch Productions has confirmed that there are no new Sly Cooper or inFamous games currently in development. The first-party PlayStation studio's first game was a Nintendo 64 platformer called Rocket: Robot on Wheels, but it really made a name for itself with 2002's Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus and its sequels. Sucker Punch then made the leap onto PlayStation 3 with the open-world superhero title inFamous, which spawned a trilogy of its own. While these two series put Sucker Punch on the map, it seems that new Sly Cooper and inFamous games are not on the agenda.

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus introduced players to titular anthropomorphic fox Sly Cooper and his merry band of outlaws. The PlayStation 2 platformer sees players sneak, climb and fight their way around the world with the help of criminal associates Bentley the Turtle and Murray the Hippo. The game was followed by Sly 2: Band of Thieves, which made Murray and Bentley playable alongside Sly across multiple open-world environments. Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves rounded out the trilogy by assembling even more playable characters for a massive heist. The series continued with Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, which was instead developed by Sunzaru Games, but fans have long awaited a Sly Cooper 5 reveal with Sucker Punch back at the franchise's helm.

Sucker Punch followed Sly 3 with inFamous, an open-world superhero game that lets players wield electricity powers to protect or destroy the fictional Empire City. The title puts players in control of Cole MacGrath, a bike courier who gains superhuman abilities after a package detonates and destroys part of the city. The game, and its sequel inFamous 2, feature a morality system where Cole gains shocking new powers based on the player's moral choices. In 2014 Sucker Punch released inFamous Second Son, a third game that sees new protagonist Delsin Rowe fight to liberate Seattle by wielding modern elements like smoke, neon light and video signals. A new inFamous game from PlayStation and Sucker Punch would please fans of the superhero series, but so far Second Son is the last entry in the franchise.

Sucker Punch Could Be Making A Ghost of Tsushima Trilogy

Ghost of Tsushima Multiplayer

While fans would love to see a new Sly Cooper or inFamous game, Sucker Punch Productions has confirmed that no new games in either series are in the works. The developer is instead focused on their next project, which could potentially be a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. The open-world samurai game, which lets players explore Feudal Japan and fight off a Mongol invasion of the titular island, was released back in 2020. Sucker Punch's next game could also be a wholly original title, but it certainly will not be a return to either Sly Cooper or inFamous.

Ghost of Tsushima sequel from Sucker Punch seems likely, since the developer has a history of crafting trilogies for each of their properties. The developer made three Sly Cooper games followed by three inFamous games, so three Ghost of Tsushima titles would follow the same pattern. However, Sucker Punch has not ruled out the possibility of returning to their old and beloved franchises somewhere down the line.
