Slime Rancher's Slime Fossils are an uncommon recourse that players can take advantage of to escalate and upgrade their farm continually. However, due to the rare nature of this recourse, players may find themselves a little lost when looking for them.
It's helpful for beginners players of Slime Rancher to get The Lab farm expansion early. This is an expansion to the ranch with a barn that houses the Slime Science Workshop. This workshop is the only place players can produce gadgets in Slime Rancher. The drill, specifically, is essential in gathering Slime Fossils. The novice drill is immediately unlocked with the lab, but players will want to upgrade it as fast as possible to find better Slime Fossils.
With their drill in hand, Slime Rancher players can find Slime Fossils practically anywhere if they are patient enough. The bad side of this is that Slime Fossils are an uncommon drill resource, and there doesn't seem to be an area of the map where their drop rate increases or decreases by any substantial number. Thankfully though, upgrading the drill in Slime Rancher helps significantly with finding uncommon and rare resources. The tier four titan drill, for example, is much more likely to drop a slime fossil than the novice drill.
Using Slime Fossils in Slime Rancher
Upon first inspection, it's made clear to Slime Rancher players that most of the recipes involving Slime Fossils are decorations and curios. While these aren't exactly game-changers, some of them are nice to have around. These possible decorations and curios include the following:

But the real excitement of Slime Fossils comes in their use in utilities and warp technology. Players can utilize Slime Fossils (along with a number of other ingredients) to make a taming bell, for example, which makes nearby wild slime docile and easier to catch. Slime Fossils can also be used to create the Master Gordo Snare, which is the only way to capture the Gordo slime whole. The most useful utilization of Slime Fossils comes in their use in warp tech. They are required to make the warp depots that teleport items from one point of the map to another – an ability that becomes more and more useful as the player uses more and more of the map.
While the decorations and curios are great, players would do well to prioritize these more useful recipes for their Slime Fossils. After all, Slime Rancher is all about farming, breeding, upgrading, and expanding, something far easier to accomplish with resources like these.
