The latest Nintendo Indie World Showcase event has confirmed a host of new games coming to Nintendo Switch, including classics such as Slime Rancher, Gang Beasts, and Astroneer. The Nintendo Indie World Showcase livestream took place today, August 11, and announced new titles and console exclusives, with many games currently available on other platforms making their Nintendo Switch debut.

Nintendo's Indie World Showcase events might not pull in the same number of viewers as Nintendo Direct presentations, but they do see hundreds of thousands of views worldwide. The livestreams, which usually happen every few months, focus on upcoming Nintendo Switch releases from independent developers, with some games launching on the Nintendo eShop just hours after their Indie World debut. Earlier this year, upcoming games such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, The House of the Dead: Remake, and Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals, were shown during Nintendo Indie World presentations.

Announced amidst a slew of new game reveals, the Nintendo Indie World Showcase confirmed that Slime Rancher, Astroneer, and Gang Beasts will all be coming to Nintendo Switch. Slime Rancher is a first-person sandbox experience in which players must master the art of slime ranching by collecting slimes, harvesting resources, and growing crops. Dubbed the "Plortable Edition," Slime Rancher will release on Switch today, August 11. System Era Softworks' space sandbox adventure and discovery game Astroneer will get a Switch release in January 2022, while multiplayer party game Gang Beasts will come to the platform sometime during fall 2021.

All three games have enjoyed success on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and many fans of the titles have been calling for Nintendo Switch releases. Games like Slime Rancher are perfectly suited to handheld play, something which the Nintendo Switch will easily make possible. While some Switch ports have struggled with the limitations of the hardware, Gang Beasts, Astroneer, and Slime Rancher, can all be played successfully on relatively low PC settings, which hopefully means the console editions won't suffer from frame rate drops or other performance issues.

The next Nintendo Indie World Showcase hasn't yet been announced, and likely won't be for some time. Going off previous livestreams, fans can likely expect it to come sometime around November or December, though this might change to help push game sales for the holiday period. Nintendo usually doesn't give much notice for the event, typically announcing it the day before it's live, so indie game fans should keep an eye on Nintendo's social channels for future updates.
