New adventures are on the horizon for fans of Slime Rancher, a simulation game set on a faraway planet where players farm and breed sentient balls of slime. Developer Monomi Park announced Slime Rancher 2 during E3 2021 with a trailer that will take the main character Beatrix LeBeau to an entirely new location filled with different slime species to capture and breed. While it looks like many of the mechanics from the previous Slime Rancher game will be included in Slime Rancher 2, it is likely there will be plenty of exciting new ways to farm and explore in the upcoming sequel.

The original Slime Rancher is set in the "Far Far Range". This western take on an alien planet is set far away from civilization and Beatrix must leave behind everyone she cares about to live a life of solitude in her small home on the slime ranch. The "Far Far Range" is made up of multiple biomes like The Moss Blanket, a lush jungle location with thick trees and plant growth, and The Indig Quarry, a cavern-filled rocky landscape, among many others. Each location has unique slime species that can be captured and carried home to the player's ranch.

One of the best parts of exploring the "Far Far Range" is the many puzzles scattered throughout each biome. Players can find Treasure Pods hidden around maps, feed massive Slimes to earn loot and unlock Static Teleporter pads, or even find keys to unlock new locations. Currently, it isn't known what biomes will be featured in Slime Rancher 2, but it appears there will be the opportunity to explore a whole new map, and potentially discover secrets and puzzles that weren't a part of the original Slime Rancher title.

Slime Rancher 2 Will Feature A Conservatory Instead Of A Farm

Slime Rancher 2 Conservatory

According to Steam, Slime Rancher 2 will take place on Rainbow Island. Beatrix LeBeau will travel over the Slime Sea to explore this new location, unravel the mysteries of the island, and build up a thriving slime conservatory. Currently, little has been released on what will be included in Slime Rancher 2's conservatory, but it appears the original slime pens will be returning, along with farming plots to grow berry trees and vegetables, and storage units to hold excess items and slime Plorts. Hopefully, much like the ranch in Slime Rancher, players will be able to expand the conservatory and customize locations with decorations or color themes. Currently, Slime Rancher 2 is anticipated for release on Steam and Xbox consoles in 2022. It is possible that the sequel will follow the original game, and release in early access before receiving a full content release at a later date. There is also a good chance the game will come out for PlayStation after the initial launch, as the original game is currently available on both home consoles. Hopefully, the new adventures awaiting players in Slime Rancher 2 will be just as exciting and adorable they were in Slime Rancher, and include new ways for fans to care for their hordes of Slimes.
