The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Witcher series recently got a crossover, thanks to a Skyrim player who designed their character to look like The Witcher protagonist Geralt of Rivia. Skyrim is nearly a decade old, and the most recent The Witcher installment, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, released more than five years ago, but both titles have thriving communities that continue to find ways to make Skyrim and The Witcher 3 feel new again.

When the game was first released, Skyrim features a character creation module that was lauded for its wide range of options. With ten races to choose from and a large array of customizable facial features, the base game allows players to personalize their character to look like nearly anything they choose. Mods made by the community later added even more options, including the ability to play as a character from Avatar: The Last Airbendein Skyrim. In the years since the game's release, this freedom has allowed many players to make creative designs for their Skyrim avatars.

A post on Reddit by Krislavallin puts the latest of these creations on display. The user posted a screenshot of their recreation of Geralt, complete with The-Witcher-looking weapons and armor. The monster slayer wears the in-game Thieves' Guild armor for the picture, and the armor set is a close match for the aesthetic of the Witcher world.  The resemblance to the Geralt of The Witcher 3 is strong, but the differences in the character models are clear when looking at a single avatar between both games.

This new character isn't the first time that The Witcher has appeared in Skyrim. Several mods have brought different aspects of the Witcher franchise to Tamriel, including one that makes Witchers available as a playable race. References between games are a common theme of mods, and as two of some of the best-received games of the past decade, it may not come as a surprise that fans would want to experience both games together.

While fans eagerly await news of The Elder Scrolls VI, many still choose to return to Skyrim and use mods or self-imposed challenges to keep the gameplay fresh. Stretching the character customizer to its limit is just one way players pass the time in the game, and results in new creations even a decade after the game's release. The Witcher 3 has earned a similar status, to the point that fans still share images of an unofficial The Witcher 3 DLC, yearning for an expansion to a game more than five years old. That both titles are still so frequently revisited by fans is a testament to their quality, and this recreation of Geralt is a symbol of how Skyrim and The Witcher 3 have withstood the test of time.
