The schedule for QuakeCon 2021 is now live online and reveals Bethesda's and id Software's plan to host a segment dedicated to "reliving" The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's opening scene. Usually an in-person gathering in Dallas, Texas, Bethesda managed to keep QuakeCon alive in 2020 with a streaming event full of live concerts, developer panels, and charity fundraisers. The digital-only festivities also marked the first place in which fans were given a closer look at DOOM Eternal's The Ancient Gods - Part One expansion.

It's of little surprise, then, that Bethesda and id are rolling full steam ahead with another digital-only event for QuakeCon 2021. Last year's canceled in-person festivities would've marked the 25th anniversary of the "Woodstock of video games," which began in the mid-1990s. Though it still bears the Quake namesake, the show has morphed into one that celebrates multiple properties under the Bethesda umbrella. This year's all-digital celebration will be no different.

The complete streaming schedule for QuakeCon 2021 landed online, courtesy of Bethesda.net. Bethesda and id plans to host the event from August 19 through August 21 on the former's official Twitch channel. Fans who tune in will get to take part in giveaways, charities, and more. Plus, 10 different developer panels are on the docket, including "Reliving the Opening of Skyrim with the Creators from BGS." This particular "Signature Panel" airs on August 19 at 4:00 PM ET, serving as a celebration of Skyrim's 10th anniversary where developers will "share insider stories and relive memories from development." Other notable panels will include one dedicated to a Death Loop deep dive at 2:30 PM ET on August 19 and a DOOM Eternal studio update slated for 4:30 PM that same day.

Sure, fans may lament sitting through Skyrim's opening sequence yet again, but it's notable for a reason. Some find it a slog, patiently waiting for the carriage ride to end before the real fun finally starts. The scene also has a fair few charms, though, evidenced by the memes that continue to borrow from it. What developers have to say when looking back at the opening will no doubt interest many a fan, regardless of how they feel about the content itself.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim originally hit store selves on November 11, 2011 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. It's since migrated to several other platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, VR headsets, and Nintendo Switch.
