Skyrim features many fantastical creatures and beings, but it also features ordinary people living their life in the fantastical world. This often leads to the player interacting with NPCs of different races, but it also can lead to NPCs reacting to these great creatures. For one Skyrim player, an NPC made an incredibly ironic statement regarding one of the most fearsome creatures in the game.

These NPCs often have to deal with werewolf attacks, massive battles, and their villages being assaulted by giants. However, the mythical dragons are believed to be extinct from Tamriel when Skyrim begins. When the first dragons appear at the start of Skyrim NPCs are incredulous at the sight and do not believe when the player is revealed to be the legendary Dragonborn. While the player does meet some NPCs that do believe in dragons such as Delphine and Esbern of the Blades, a group sworn to the Dragonborn. The vast majority of Tamriel's citizens, though, do not believe in dragons despite the evidence of their return, as one Skyrim player found.

Posted to Reddit, user Utinjiichi, showed off a most peculiar encounter with one of Skyrim's NPCs. After a battle with one of Skyrim's fearsome dragons, Utinjiichi is preparing for other enemies who might come to battle. Standing alongside the carnage, a Kajit trader named Ahkari quips that all the talk of dragons hasn't yet convinced her of their danger. The irony, of course, is that Ahkari is expressing her doubt regarding the existence of a creature whose corpse is only a few feet away from her.

The scripted nature of NPC interactions can often lead to idiosyncracies like this, but many Skyrim players on Reddit seemed to get a kick out of this one. It's hardly the first time that an odd Skyrim quirk has garnered attention online. For instance, one Skyrim player found a bee strong enough to carry a bucket in the air. Even though this oddity was likely just the result of a glitch, and not an intended interaction like that of Ahkari, players still found it quite humorous.

Over a decade after the game's first launch, players continue to return to Skyrim. In part, the appeal is unique moments like that Utinjiichi shared, and the many small details still yet to be discovered in Tamriel. With mods and the recent Skyrim - Anniversary Edition, players can keep fighting dragons for many more years, even if the NPCs of Skyrim still have their doubts.
