A translation of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s entire Dragon alphabet in English was posted recently on Reddit, helping to translate Thu'ums to English. The game, which was released in November 2011, still has a large fan following and player base bolstered by the recent release of Skyrim Anniversary Edition, with the r/skyrim subreddit boasting 1.3 million devoted members to date.

With its many re-releases across platforms and console generations, Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a game that continues to bring in new players as well as bringing back gamers who were there from day one. This is in part thanks to its wide variety of quests, storylines, and character customization options, but is also due to the immersive experience provided. Even those who've put hundreds of hours into Skyrim can still find something new within its vast realms, oftentimes things related to lore. Languages and alphabets designed by Bethesda play a big role in this, serving to make the game not only more realistic, but also providing secrets for Skyrim fans to uncover.

In an easy-to-follow screenshot posted by Urbernttost on the r/skyrim subreddit, the entire Thu’ums alphabet has been translated to English in an image believed to originally be from the Diary of a Dragonborn Tumblr. Fans of Skyrim who want to explore the game world and translate any Dragon text can use the handy infographic to decipher many of the title's long misunderstood alphabet, which should provide a new level of immersion for dedicated players. Thanks to the image's simplicity and ease of use, the Reddit post has been a success with Skyrim fans, amassing over 5,000 upvotes at the time of writing. The post follows on from other successful translation communities, such as the website Thuum.

Many in the Elder Scrolls community have tried to translate Skyrim's Dragon language. Communities dedicated to translating the Thu’ums language, like the Thuum website, have provided further translations for German and French, as well as a Google Translate-esque system. For fans willing to dive deeper into the lore and history of the language, Thuum also provides lessons, as well as a library that includes a full dictionary that’s on its fifth edition to date. It also contains an impressively large file by Bethesda that consists of every line of dialogue available within Skyrim.

Skyrim proves to still be a rich, layered and immersive experience with incredible replayability, and content like this simple Dragon language translation graphic continues to tide fans of the franchise over as they eagerly await the next installment, The Elder Scrolls VI. Despite being announced at E3 in 2018 with a trailer showing off a beautifully rendered landscape, very little is known about the game itself. TES 6 may still be in pre-production, but it's hoped the developer is working on creating a similar experience to Skyrim, perhaps with even more languages to explore.
