Skyrim has remained one of the best RPGs for years due to its huge world filled with content to adventure through—loot, quests, bosses, and homes—and its neverending pool of mods for players to create and discover well.

Every true player needs a good home to store all his loot and collectibles from voyages around the map, and there are so many options to choose from. There are already some nice vanilla houses, but with mods and the new Anniversary Edition, there is 10x the selection of epic mansions and estates. Players will want only the best for their true roleplaying experience and aesthetic.

Severin Manor

Severin Manor is a player home available with the Dragonborn DLC located within Solstheim. It is rewarded to the Dragonborn who completes the quest, "Served Cold." This unique house is one of the only non-modded homesteads in Redoran style, allowing players to get that nostalgic Morrowind feeling.

It might not be the most glamorous of homes, but it comes fully upgraded to the player for no extra cost. It is equipped with a full forge, cooking, alchemy, enchanting stations, and bedrooms. This house is perfect for players working their way through Solstheim with room to store their extra loot, but it lacks storage containers compared to other selections. The Morrowind aesthetic and architecture still does make it worth claiming.

Proudspire Manor

Proudspire Manor is a vanilla house that requires no extra DLCs or mods (unless the player wants some revamps), and even then, it remains one of the best player homes ever. It's located in Solitude and can be purchased from the steward, although it is the most expensive house to buy in the base game.

For being a base game house, Proudspire is pretty amazing, not only for its luxurious furnishing but its location. Despite lacking a smelter, Proudspire is the most expensive vanilla home because of its large size. Players can furnish a full enchanting room, alchemy room, living room, kitchen, and even a child's bedroom without giving up any other choices. One of the best things is the location. Solitude is the capital of Skyrim for a good reason—it has everything a player could need, including the Bard's College right across the way from the manor.

Heljarchen Hall

Heljarchen Hall is a part of the Hearthfire DLC and is a fully customizable house on a plot of land located south of Whiterun and the Throat of the World. For a fairly low price, the land can be purchased from the Skald, the Elder in Dawnstar, or Brina Merilis.

This homestead allows for players to go through a unique building experience, requiring them to have the materials needed to upgrade the space they wish to have in their houses. They can choose between several rooms and upgrade options with crafting stations and storage containers. It also has small plots for farming and its own horse carriage. This is the perfect homestead for players with all the best Skyrim companions, as they can invite them to stay with them.

Lakeview Manor

Lakeview Manor is also part of the Hearthfire DLC between Falkreath and Riverwood. The beautiful land with a view of the lake and Bleak Falls Burrow in the mountains above can be purchased from the steward of Falkreath.

Like all properties part of Hearthfire, Lakeview is a customizable build, allowing players to choose what rooms and add-ons they want and actually go through building it. Visually the house looks about the same as the Heljarchen Hall. However, this house is unique because it allows for an apiary where honeycombs will be created and harvestable. Players can have their own carriage driver here, as well as their own stable and all other crafting stations they need.

Dead Man's Dread

The Dead Man's Dread is unique because it is a full ship that serves as a player home within a large, mysterious cavern. It is included in the Anniversary Edition material added to the game and serves as a new side quest.

Players will receive the quest "The Restless" upon activating the Anniversary Edition, and it will lead them to an island among the Sea of Ghosts. After the player has defeated all the undead inhabitants of the ship, they can claim it as their very own home. This player home not only guarantees a visually epic scenery but allows players to claim two new pirate weapons pirate outfits and has all the crafting and storage they could need.

Goldenhills Plantation

Goldenhills Plantation not only adds a whole new homestead and opportunity for players, but is one of the best quests of the Skyrim Anniversary Edition. This full plantation and farm is the full roleplay experience for Skyrim fans.

Goldenhills allows players to operate their own farm with all-new abilities and agricultural skills. It also comes with an intriguing murder mystery quest that players must complete before claiming the land. It's an expandable plot with its very own steward to run operations. Players can upgrade the look of their buildings, buy new livestock, and hire farmhands to care for the land. It might not be the biggest house for storage and collectibles, but it does have the usual crafting stations and offers a totally new aspect to the game.

Myrwatch

Players looking for a more mystical and expansive home for their Arch Mage can look no further. Myrwatch is a breathtaking mage tower with tons of space, crafting materials and stations, endless storage, and room for all their collectibles. This is another great option included in the Anniversary Edition.

There was no denying the Arch-Mage quarters in the College were not cutting it. Myrwatch is the perfect choice for magically inclined characters with its mystical decor, staff enchanter, tons of alchemy ingredients, and portals to its multiple levels. Even if the player doesn't have a mage, this house has its own 'All Forge' and a whole museum area for all the best Skyrim items found in their journeys.

Bloodchill Manor

Bloodchill Manor is another home available in the Anniversary Edition and the first vampire-inspired player home. Players can experience a thrilling and difficult new quest that allows them to claim this home for no cost whatsoever.

This manor is hidden high in the northern mountains and engrossed deep in the Bloodchill cavern. Players are required to follow a brief quest and defeat some of the most difficult Skyrim bosses with vampire powers to claim this manor for themselves. This gorgeous, gothic-themed house is fully furnished with unique vampire decors such as gargoyle statues and gold and red accents. It is equipped with a full forge, crafting stations, and museum storage. This house is worth it simply for the unique exterior landscape.

Elysium Estate SSE

This beautiful home has tons of storage allows players to choose between different style options and customizations for the basement—werewolf inspired, vampire inspired, or treasury. It also has a fully-voiced introductory quest.

LC_Citadel

LC_Citadel is one of the best options for a player home because it includes more than a simple house. This is a fully equipped Citadel full of vendors, interactions, guard towers, and a keep. It is the player's personal paradise, the size of a full DLC.

Players must work their way up to Lord Commander of the keep by raising their reputation. Their reputation is affected by different tasks done within the Citadel. Once the player has claimed the land, they will be in charge of a full guard and protect the Citadel from enemy attacks. This player home has its own vendors, all within reach, guard barracks, and personal storage and crafting stations. It's the perfect homestead and so much more.
