Skylar Astin wants to crossover with his Pitch Perfect co-star Utkarsh Ambudkar on Ghosts. An adaptation of the British show of the same name, the CBS version focuses on married couple Samantha (Rose McIver) and Jay (Ambudkar) and details what happens to their lives when Samantha has a near-death experience and starts to communicate with spirits. Along with Abbott Elementary, which airs on ABC, Ghosts has been credited with helping to revitalize the half-hour network comedy with strong ratings and positive word-of-mouth from audiences.

Astin is the co-lead on a different CBS comedy, the recently-debuted So Help Me Todd. Following the talented titular investigator played by Astin, the hour-long legal procedural contains plenty of levity even as it leans more into the dramatic than ghosts. The story centers around Todd's relationship with his mother Margaret (Marcia Gay Harden) and how they'll have to learn to overcome their strained history as they begin to work together on cases. So Help Me Todd does share a bit in common with Ghosts ― they air on the same network, on the same night, and are both lighthearted to different degrees. But they're not exactly the perfect fit.

Still, in a new interview with ET, Astin says he wants to see a crossover between the two shows. Astin and Ambudkar starred together in the first Pitch Perfect, memorably performing Flo Rida's "Right Round" song as part of a group. While promoting So Help Me Todd, Astin welcomed a crossover with Ghosts and even offered an idea for it. Read Astin's quote below.

I personally would love a Ghosts-So Help Me Todd crossover. I think that that would be phenomenal. It’s simple. You just have Utkarsh and all those characters, they have to enlist the services of Todd and Margaret Wright. That’s right, Thursdays, we got you covered!

How Would A Ghosts & So Help Me Todd Crossover Work?

From a plot perspective, it wouldn't be too difficult to merge the two shows. It could be the case that Jay and Sam require legal advice, which brings them to So Help Me Todd. Alternatively, and admittedly a little more strained, Margaret and Todd could stay over at Sam and Jay's bed-and-breakfast on Ghosts. The story potential is there. What's more difficult is connecting two shows of different styles and genres that don't exist in the same universe or operate under the same rules.

An early example of an attempt at this type of crossover is when Seinfeld's Kramer crossed over with Murphy Brown, even though the shows were on different networks. More recently, when Scandal crossed over with How to Get Away with Murder, it led to some great scenes between Kerry Washington and Viola Davis but also essentially broke the long-established continuity of both dramas. Given that So Help Me Todd and Ghosts are newer and less established, a crossover could be an easier task to accomplish, aided by Astin's enthusiasm to reunite with Ambudkar.
