Disney's Sky High movie nearly featured a hilarious spoof on Aquaman. Before Disney was dominating the box office with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they created an original superhero property in 2005. Sky High followed a group of high school students who went to a floating school with the same name as the movie, where they learned how to use their abilities and become superheroes or sidekicks.

Sky High primarily followed the story of Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano), a freshman at the airborne school and son of two of the world's biggest superheroes: The Commander (Kurt Russell) and Jetstream (Kelly Preston). Once Will gets his powers, he begins to develop abilities similar to his father, with both men given similar abilities to Superman. Thanks to the premise of Sky High, characters throughout the film have powers that mirror those that could be seen in DC or Marvel comics. It turns out these spoofs nearly included one for DC's Aquaman.

During an interview with InverseSky High co-writer Mark McCorkle revealed a scrapped idea to have a character spoof Aquaman. The writer said early drafts of the film included a kid from Atlantis who had a fish-like appearance, similar to the Creature of the Black Lagoon. The idea was for the Aquaman ripoff character to be an exchange student who would've had a similar way of speaking as Groot does in the MCU, as he'd only be able to say one phrase in English. McCorkle didn't reveal where the character would've appeared or how large of a role their Aquaman spoof could've had.

Although Aquaman has become more popular in recent years thanks to Jason Momoa's portrayal in the DC Extended Universe, the thought of Sky High making fun of him isn't too surprising. HBO's Entourage poked fun at how ridiculous an Aquaman movie would be the same year that Sky High came out, with one of the show's characters starring as the superhero who can talk to fish in a movie directed by James Cameron. At the time, Aquaman was an easy target for jokes, but a lot has changed in the last 15 years, especially with Momoa's rockstar portrayal of Aquaman so far.

Even though Sky High didn't include this planned Aquaman riff, the movie still highlighted multiple other types of superpowers. Will's friends have a variety of superpowers, as Layla Williams can control plants, Zach can make his entire body glow, and Magenta can transform into a guinea pig. Meanwhile, Will's crush Gwen Grayson is a telepath, and his presumed enemy Warren Peace has fire powers. All of these characters provide Sky High with spoofs on comic characters like Poison Ivy, Beast Boy, and more, but maybe the Atlantis exchange student can appear if Sky High 2 ever happens.
